When we heard about the First Annual Sundrop Music & Arts Festival at the Fire this weekend, we were definitely intrigued by the amount of support it’s giving to local artists. Kicking off tonight, you have headliners (and Deli friends) Hezekiah Jones, who will be joined by Americana revival artistes North Lawrence Midnight Singers opening up the three-day festival. On Saturday, there’ll be a FREE show and craft fair from 3pm – 9pm that’ll have The Circadian Rhythms, Attia Taylor, The Spinning Leaves, North Lawrence Midnight Singers, Paper Masques, Spirit and Dust, and Ron Gallo of Toy Soldiers (who are playing Saturday night) taking the two outdoor stages located in front of the Fire and Trios Tratorria while fine art, crafts and food vendors hawk their stuff. Paper Masques returns Saturday night to perform along with Busses, Orbit to Leslies, and Drink Up Buttercup, who, if you haven’t heard from us by now, have officially spilt, making this their last show as DUB. And closing out the fiesta Sunday night is Arrah and the Ferns, Peasant, Former Belle, and Illinois. We here at The Deli are all about cheering on local acts. They’re the ones that make this city so musically rich and vibrant, and without them, our days would be so dull and dreary. The Fire, 412 W.
