The Love Club Album Release Show at PhilaMOCA Nov. 30

If you were ever able to inflict a band with a case of multiple personality disorder, The Love Club would be the result. Hearing them play is more or less sitting down for 8 or 9 different performances, as they slide between blues, grunge, indie, psychedelic, and hard rock on a song by song basis, all with an overarching sense of wildeye’d crazy. Between hypnotizing instrumentals and David Esparza’s soulfully kinetic vocals, they’re like a cross between early Velvet Underground and the entire soundtrack of Pulp Fiction. The Love Club will be celebrating the release of their new album Pearls Dissolve In Vinegar tonight at Philamoca, and if the lineup is any indication, the whole evening should be some kind of trip. They’ll be joined on the bill by Alumbrados, featuring members of Bardo Pond, and twisted punk outfit Space Drugs, as well as stand-up by Matt MccCusker.
