Purling Hiss Rip & Stitch Rock ‘n’ Roll at KFN Nov. 30

Purling Hiss’ unique downcast psychedelic rock ‘n’ roll will turn your downs up and your ups down, hurling you toward infinity with guitar solos that rip you apart then carefully stitch you back together. Their fourth LP Water On Mars came out earlier this year on Drag City, showing a Purling Hiss that continues to ooze and crack, ricocheting between sludge, shoegaze and sunny guitar rock. They’ll be headlining tonight at Kung Fu Necktie with local pals shimmering garage-pop trio Amanda X and Space Breaker, whose lo-fi fuzz-rock will have you thinking it’s summer 2010. Kung Fu Necktie, 1250 N Front St., 8pm, $10, 21+ – Ali Carter
