ORACLE666 brings revitalizing energy to TV Eye this Saturday 12/30

My process involves documenting light patterns and nature through photography and video, translating these into the basis for both hand-cut and welded sculptures brought to life through LED’s and projections…I preform with these works as a character called the Oracle, who I see as giving birth to the living sculptures channeling an archetypical woman sorceress….Eastern-European folktales, which center on the witch, filter heavily into my understanding of mysticism and storytelling.

I see my sculptures as artifacts from a synthetic whole, an expansive performance ranging from research of natural moss patterns to poetry, light, and theater. Through my visual art, performances, and music, I aim to create a womb-like setting for the audience’s healing and self-observation. — Julia Sinelnikova

Lest there be any doubt about what lies in store during the year 2024 you’d be wise to seek advice from an oracle and lucky for all involved we’ve got none other than the artist known as ORACLE666 opening up the night (7pm sharp!!) at our New Year’s Eve’s Eve showcase (12/30/23!) at the mystical temple known as TV Eye in Ridgewood, Queens you can GET YR TICKETS HERE

…cuz this coming year is likely to require no small degree of fearlessness and resilience which is perfect seeing as ORACLE666 will be celebrating a birthday on the night in question (12/30/23!) thus channeling maximum Capricorn energy to assist us all in facing what lies ahead not to mention how Capricorns are known as being “always ready to transform themselves to confront and conquer their fears”…

…and just as one might expect from an oracle with this particular astrological profile, the creator of ORACLE666, Julia Sinelnikova, works by day as a fearlessly innovative interdisciplinary artist, sculptor, curator, writer, DJ/musician born to Russian parents and raised in Texas prior to becoming a part of Bushwick’s vanguardist art movement who more lately has applied these transformative energies to ORACLE666 emerging womblike like a larvae-turned-butterfly into a new musical entity…

…but a new entity with a history, born out of Julia’s deep personal involvement with Vector Gallery which was essentially an Exploding Plastic Inevitable for the early 21st century, a peripatetic art space and storefront temple that welcomed creative misfits of all denominations and persuasions notable for its neon-hued floor-to-ceiling collage-style talismanic instillations whose founding “Crown Prince of Hell” was iconoclastic post-human artist JJ Brine (1982-2021, RIP) once described thusly by underground artist Bruce LaBruce: “If the Manson Family, Warhol’s Factory, Maya Deren, and the Dalai Lama had an orgy that produced a bastard child, it would be JJ Brine” and it was Brine who first encouraged Julia to take on the performative role of the Oracle of Vector Gallery, an entity willed into existence with the help of hand-made headdresses and costumery…

…and in an echo of Julia Sinelnikova’s own sculptural creations made of silver mylar cut-out patterns and diaphanous pastel cocoon-like holographic hanging light sculptures among other artistic media and materials not infrequently meant to resemble fairy organs and biophilic tendrils—think H.H. Giger meets Tinkerbell—the music of ORACLE666 is likewise comprised of gauzy Eno-ambient wisps of sound dropped over shimmering-pulsating synths and dark iridescent riddims (2021’s Lost Amulet EP includes collaborations with producers Galen Tipton, Autumn Ludi a.k.a. SOULM4TE, and Mevius the latter of whom takes the stage directly after ORACLE666 at TV Eye!) interwoven with Julia’s crystalline vocal melodies and poetic lyrics designed to take the listener “down the rabbit hole”…

…so by all means come on out to this Saturday (12/30/23! 7pm!) to be pleasurably plunged down the rabbit hole IRL into a multi-sensory wonderland cuz what better way to enter the nearly New Year not to mention ORACLE666 is said to be experienced in reading personal prophesies (ask about your death date if you dare!) and be sure to stick around for sets by Mevius, Orange Peel Mystic, and girl_irl in a night full of otherworldly industrial avant-pop and extraterrestrial psych-pop garnished with a bit of jazz fusion and underground hip-hop for good measure equally ideal for entering into a trance state and/or for shaking your tail feather to and then keep an eye out for J Sinelnikova’s upcoming book on close friend/artistic collaborator JJ Brine which you can learn more about here in an interview recorded for the StoryCorp oral archive…
