Weekend Warrior, June 8 – 10

The drums pump along at a running pace, and then as you begin to sweat, intense electric guitars join you making the ground beneath your feet feel slightly uncomfortable as loose gravel penetrates your skin. However, once you reach maximum speed, there’s no slowing down, and a sweet feminine voice steadies the course. You lock in. Your body seems to move in one fluid motion, until it becomes effortless, and you’re left to your own unfiltered thoughts. The terrain is ever-changing, and the soundtrack is Bleeding Rainbow.

If your subconscious made music, there’s a good chance it would come out sounding like Creepoid. There’s a hazy déjà that stirs as male and female vocals push against each other and simultaneously blend harmonically with the bass bumps in a disturbed irritated nature while the guitar puts forth a simple riff with a jagged edge. Then, as it begins to morph, climbing a steep cliff and emerging electrified in complete assault mode. The voices are haunting, but this isn’t a horror show. It’s a microscope pointed between your ears. The groove is there too, as the drums bounce along to the strumming guitar and the vocals guide the way. Sometimes the microscope zooms in, but have no fear because no matter what it’s you.

Both Deli faves will be helping R5 and Morgan’s Pier kickoff their free Saturday afternoon summer concert series this weekend. Morgan’s Pier, 211 N. Columbus Blvd., 6pm, Free, 21+ (Bleeding Rainbow Photo by Chris Zak; Creepoid Photo by Brandee Nichols) – Michael Colavita
