Today, Brooklyn-based indie rock band Image Society dropped their newest EP “The Doom of Youth” via The Tone Library, and is set to celebrate with an album release show at Mercury Lounge tomorrow, August 6th. Members Jordan, Conrad, Sean, and Brian have crafted a punk-infused collection of tracks nostalgic for their Long Island roots, but threaded with imaginative and modern melodies that make it an easy (but compelling) listen. Just last month, the quartet also premiered an edgy video for “Mirror Images,” shot in different rooms of a dilapidated abandoned building. Music Video Premiere: Lemme Adams – Toys Director’s Cut
We have an awesome premiere for you today! San Francisco based psych alternative rock band, Lemme Adams has given us the opportunity to premiere the Director’s Cut of their award winning music video, Toys. You may have heard that Toys has won top honors (Best Song) for 2014’s Music Video Race.
This semi violent, anti/uber masculine music video is drenched with dark humor and irony. Putting a motion picture behind Adam’s dark pop songs is probably one of the best ideas…ever. We watch him teeter between childhood and manhood while obliterating a number of archetypes that are supposed to represent what it means to be a male human being on planet Earth. It’s all done in a starkly exaggerated manner, and we can totally tell why this music video won an award.
Enjoy it. Dig the art, dig on the humor but try not to soak in the testosterone spurting moments in the video too much! Or you can, but it might not do you much good because Lemme Adams and his bandmates are really sweet guys and we’re always into covering their badass releases and music videos. –je

An Aussie punk in Brooklyn, Wax Witches releases “Celebrity Beatings” LP on 09.09
Australian Alex Wall’s solo project, Wax Witches, is a display of, and an ode to, an upbringing immersed in the fast-paced three-chord blast beat ballads and sludge bangers of the 80’s California punk culture. The one-man brain-baby released its sophomore LP, “Celebrity Beatings,” last year: a pissed off sixteen-song tantrum of a record, purporting attitude, discontent, and refusal to conform in every note sung. Wall, who is also the frontman in the Gold Coast’s Bleeding Knees Club, plays every instrument on the record, incorporating some psych influences immediately apparent in his heavily delayed vocals. Wax Witches is everything a bare-bones punk fan would ever need, as it comes from the heart of a lifelong bare-bones punk fan. His follow-up LP, titled “Centre of Your Universe,” is currently out in Australia, and is due for a worldwide release on September 9th under Burger Record’s wing. Young Statues Opening for The Early November at WCL Aug. 5 & 6
For the next two evenings, Young Statues will open a pair of sold-out shows, headlined by The Early November, upstairs at World Café Live. The quartet brings a youthful exuberance, accompanied by unshielded emotional narrative elements. However, while the lyrics take on a personal shape and sound, the overall instrumental notes are a positive, crisply composed boost of adrenaline. Young Statues reveal enough lyrically to connect on that relatable level, while holding back just enough to not fall in the deep. Get to World Café Live early, and catch them opening, followed by Michigan husband and wife duo Empire Empire! (I was a Lonely Estate), who are set to release a new LP You Will Eventually Be Forgotten, via Count Your Lucky Stars Records, later this month. NYC Artist Ryn Weaver goes viral with ‘Octahate’ + releases new single ‘Promises’
Listed first on Billboard’s Emerging Artist Chart this past June, Ryn Weaver is the latest NYC example of how well produced electronic music can generate viral web interest even in the absence of a "real world" presence. From debut track "Octahate" (streaming) – which gathered over a million plays on Soundcloud – to the second very recent single "Promises," Ryn’s tunes show a welcome edge probably at least in part ascribable to Passion Pit’s frontman Michael Angelakos contribution – he produced the first single. Other prominent names such as Benny Blanco and Cashmere Cat have also shown support for Ryn, so don’t feel shy to spend some time with her music. Sundog gets “Superstitious” in new live video
Sundog may be based out of New Orleans, but it only feels appropriate to feature the one-man show on The Deli New England while he spends some quality time in Boston this summer. Alex Stein, whose songs and performances rely heavily on his loop pedal, recently premiered the live video for “Superstitious,” a track from his latest album Space Criminal. The funky track features piano, synth chords and layered bass lines that weave in and out of one another, and the video offers a look into Sundog’s process of laying down each looped track on stage. New Literature LP Available for Streaming
We certainly had Arab Spring, Literature‘s debut full-length album, on heavy rotation when we first discovered that they had moved from Austin to Philly; so much so, that we, soon after, booked them for one of our Tuesday Tune-Out showcases and last year’s big Deli Philly 5th anniversary bash. It’s taken a moment to get another LP from the group, but it was good to learn that they’ll be releasing their new record, Chorus, on August 19 via Slumberland Records, a fitting home for the quartet, which now consists of Kevin Attics, Nathaniel Cardaci, Seth Whaland, and Chris Schackerman. And you can currently stream Literature’s album in its entirety over at Hype Machine.

The Autonomics Release ‘Keep Tulsa Ugly’ 8.5 at Bunk Bar
Welp, better go give your money to the Autonomics. The Portland trio puts out it’s newest EP Keep Tulsa Ugly tuesday, 8.5.14. The self-release is a fuzzy, grunge-pop snapshot of the band’s tour-tight sound. Recorded in less than two days, the songs are crunchy, raw, and full of energy–a perfect representation of their gnarly (in a good way) live set. All five songs smash through your ears in just under 13 minutes. The track “I love you, Oprah Winfrey” will have you humming and la-la..ing along in no time. Shit is catchy.

Daniella Mason, “Shade of You”
Anyone who doesn’t get caught up a little in the bombacity of hyper-produced, aggressively emotional pop love anthems have probably had one too many dreams crushed in the slow unravel of their existence. The rest of us whose lives cannot be compared to a tattered sweater flapping on a tree branch until it disintegrates will find something to to enjoy in Daniella Mason’s single "Shade of You." So many elements of this track scream Top 40, but something in the delivery makes it go down as a well-made dream pop gem rather than spiritless club remix fodder. The lyrics are essentially the inverse of a love song, and the line that hooked me is also the most satirical of the track: Everyone loves you, so I do too/ I need what they want, and I guess that’s you. She’s drawn comparisons to Ellie Goulding and Jessie Ware. -Terra James-Jura

Sun Valley Gun Club has released an awesome new single called Hey Collapser. This track is a grungy indie rock song that sounds like a nice mix between The Shins and a California drenched Modest Mouse. Hey Collapser has well placed driving guitar riffs, milky vocals and a tightly composed style. Not all songs can create clean pauses and ebbs and flows that dramatically build and fall while still keeping its underground rock and roll integrity, but Hey Collapser does this. Very cool. This track proves you can be an underground band and still have great production value and a coherent sound. –je

Blynd Birds has recorded a mixed set of tracks that will hits in more than one spot. The diversity of genres in their 4-track release is perfect for the restless listener. It’s all there; styles including blues, indie, folk, garage, and punk rock. On their bandcamp, they ask that listeners "excuse the quality," but I think the lo-fi fuzz only adds to their edge.
