Squiggly Lines – Dream Pop Single “Dragonfly”, New Album 09.21

Posted on:

Squiggly Lines is a mysterious indie pop band from Toronto. Their latest single is a dreamy pop track titled “Dragonfly” which is, in their words “a song about bugs”. This track has somber tones and rather sad lyrics about missing a person all the way in Montreal at first before kickin’ in with a more upbeat B section. The melancholy sound of the verse still has a comforting feel to it. I hear some Homeshake vibes in this tune. Squiggly Lines has a new album being released on September 21st. – Kris Gies

Tomacco – Funky Garage Rock “Vagabond” EP

Posted on:

Named after one of the greatest Simpson’s episodes of all time; Tomacco is a funky 4 piece garage band from Toronto. Their latest single “Mister Twister” shows off all their goods. The rhythm keeps the funk goin’ while the keys add a psychedelic tone to the track. It has an early 90’s vibe that makes me think Tomacco would fit in on the same bill as Blood Sugar Sex Magik era Chili Peppers and Ugly Kid Joe perhaps. Their EP “Vagabond” is available now. They will be playing The Atria in Oshawa on September 20th alongside Revive the Rose, The Hostiles, The Jailbirds and No Service. – Kris Gies

Dark Trip – New Dark Punk Video “Sick”, Rippin’ at The Baby G 08.25

Posted on:

Brand new video here from Toronto’s dark punk band Dark Trip. They released a self-titled EP earlier this year featuring six quick n’ creepy songs. This single “Sick” was originally written a couple years ago following a string of mass shootings and although written a while ago is unfortunately still relevant today. The video has a very DIY feel to it but almost in a non-DIY way. It looks like it was shot with the same camera as Stone Temple Pilot’s Big Bang Baby. It’s got that straight ahead down stroke rhythm driving the song with some nice lead licks frolicking over top. Catch Dark Trip live at The Baby G on August 25th along with Cave Curse, Wave of Terror and Chilldozer. – Kris Gies
