The colorful crew of Dangerous Ponies has been on the road for their spring tour spreading some serious good vibes – I’m sure. Well, tonight will be their homecoming at what seems to be one of their favorite venues in Philly these days, PhilaMOCA. I’m expecting a tight, high-energy set with plenty of friends and fans ready to get loose and party down. DRGN King will certainly lend a helpful hand in getting the crowd pumped up. They will also be playing hosts to NYC’s Lara Stevenson & the Cans and Piscataway’s Green Paper. The old Mad Decent mausoleum is about to get pretty lively this evening! Harsh Vibes Get Loud at North Star Bar April 11
Harsh Vibe‘s single, "Magic Pentagram"–which, thanks to their win in our Featured Artist(s) Poll, they were able to polish off with free studio time–is everything the band name suggests. It’s nearly four minutes of stoned melodies–of raging psych-noise and abandoned desert songs that burn like midnight beach bonfires and disappearing joints. On "Magic Pentagram," the local Fishtown five-piece gets loud, and that’s what you should expect tonight at the North Star Bar, where they’ll perform with New York’s fuzzy psych-garage outfit, White Hills (Thrill Jockey), and Cali’s slow-burning strutters Sleepy Sun (ATP). Ripped blue jeans and silkscreened band tees required. North Star Bar, 2639 Poplar St., 8pm, $10, 21+ – Annamarya Scaccia

Cuddle Magic Album Release Party at Tin Angel April 10
Where does Brooklyn and Philly meet? The answer can be as multi-layered as Cuddle Magic’s music itself. The band, which consists of members from both places, will be having their Philly album release party tonight at Tin Angel. Cuddle Magic will be celebrating and performing their latest release Info Nympho. The group self-describes themselves as a “song writing collaborative” creating their own distinct style of chamber/orchestral indie pop. Songs like “Jason” range from upbeat drumbeats one second to quiet vocal and string measures. The members all contributed their songs on the album, giving you a different perspective throughout Info Nympho. With the help of Kickstarter, they recorded the record in analog form for vinyl. Trumpets, cellos, violins, etc. – it is an orchestra filled with a variety of sounds that never once feels overkill. Opening act Lake Street Dive will get you on your feet with upbeat tunes – just remember to hang in the back or near the wall on the right at Tin Angel. It’s a listening room so listen up, and enjoy the rest of your evening. Tin Angel, 20 S. 2nd St., 8pm, $10, 21+ – Maura Filoromo
