If you are having trouble waiting for the upcoming Philly Folk Fest happening next week August 15 – 17, the you can get your fix this evening at The Trocadero where they will screening the world premiere of At Fest, a documentary that was filmed by Mastodon Films during the summer of 2011 at the festival’s 50th anniversary. There will also be performances by Matt Baldwin and Colin Reeves of HogMaw. You can view the trailer of the doc below.

It might be time to grab a fruity mixed drink and get lost in the intergalactic tropical sounds of Spaceship Aloha. The side project of Man Man’s Christopher Sean Powell (a.k.a. Pow Pow) will be taking you away to paradise this evening at Morgan’s Pier as part of R5’s free concert series. Powell will be opening for eclectic beatmaker/producer Prefuse 73 (a.k.a. Scott Herren), and they’ll be tag-teaming plenty of grooves to help you forget that you still have the tail end of the workweek left, but no worries – it’s August. The Lawsuits premiered a poppy new tune called "Love Is Weight" earlier this morning via The Key. It was recorded in June at Converse Rubber Tracks Studio. You’ll have two chances to catch them performing live this month on August 16 at the Philly Folk Fest and on August 24 at the Brandywine Folk Festival in Kennett Square.

Purling Hiss just released a promo video to share a taste of their upcoming LP Paisley Montage and to announce that the album will be available on October 29 via Richie Records. The power trio will be hitting the road this fall with The Men, and they will be rolling into town on Tuesday, October 22 at Johnny Brenda’s.

Here’s a new music video from Lantern for the track "King Of The Jungle," off their latest LP Rock ‘N’ Roll Rorschach (Sophomore Lounge). The video has a beautifully sleazy rock aesthetic that matches perfectly with the song until its ending takes a rather bizarre turn. It was directed, shot and edited by Jaqueline Lachance.
