Grimace Federation Pouring Out Emotion at KFN Sept. 20

Posted on:

Grimace Federation creates interwoven instrumentals that could stand well on their own, but together create a symbiotic chaos. Each note is pushed to the aural foreground, bombarding the ears so that the same song sounds different upon its second rotation. When space exploration finally results in alien contact, I would imagine our intergalactic brethren playing music similar to Grimace Federation’s: vast and echoing, much like the expanse of space, music that, with all its complexity, does not require words to stir emotion. And plenty of it will be poured out this evening at Kung Fu Necktie. (We are sad to hear about the sudden passing of Grimace frontman Wes Schwartz’s father, which just happened two days ago. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to him and his family.) Kung Fu Necktie, 1250 N. Front St., 9pm, $10, 21+ -Shaylin O’Connell

We are excited to let everyone know that The Homophones will be joining our already rad lineup with Night Panther and Literature for The Deli Philly’s 5th Anniversary Bash on October 5 at PhilaMOCA. Jason Ferraro and crew have been tucked away working on their new album so we are honored that they could come out and play with us once again. It almost doesn’t feel like a Deli anniversary party without them. Special thanks to our wonderful jack-of-all-trades gal Brandi Lukas for this lovely flier! (Please share with your close friends who enjoy having a good time. ;o)

Below is a sampling with "This Body Grows Back," a demo that’s full of heartbreak and gut-wrenching vocals. You can feel more with Jones tonight at JR’s where he’ll be making his last Philly solo appearance of the year.

Satellite Hearts, who are best known for their throwback psych-rock sound, find themselves tearing apart the garage on their track "The Kill." It’s off the band’s new three-song EP Four to the Floor, which was recorded at Converse Rubber Tracks Studio in Brooklyn. The four-piece is set to take some time off to write new material so their last local area performance for a while will take place on Saturday, September 28 at the New Hope Arts and Craft Festival.
