Chris Forsyth will be celebrating the release of his new LP Solar Motel with a free performance of the record in its entirety tonight at The Rotunda. He’ll be joined by the Solar Motel Band consisting of guitarist Paul Sukeena, bassist Peter Kerlin, and drummer Steven Urgo with keyboardist Shawn Edward Hansen, who was originally part of the studio band. They’ll also be accompanied by live video production throughout the piece from Maria Dumlao. Opening the evening with a rare Philly appearance will be Chicago’s Mind Over Mirror, the solo project of Forsyth’s Peeesseye bandmate Jaime Fennelly. All this is made possible with a grant from the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Composers Forum so take advantage of this wonderful freebie. Little Big League & Amanda X Opening for PAWS at The Barbary Nov. 13
Indie pop-rock four-piece Little Big League are currently in the middle of their month-long U.S. tour in support of the band’s debut LP These Are Good People (Tiny Engines). Michelle Zauner, Deven Craige, Kevin O’Halloran and Ian Dykstra will be making a stop home this evening at The Barbary when they help Glasgow trio PAWS kickoff the group’s tour, which Little Big League will be joining for a run of shows. Also on tonight’s bill is garage-pop trio Amanda X, who recently did an interview and shared a new track called "Parsnip" with Megapeng. The song was recorded in NYC at Rubber Tracks with former Dangerous Ponies and now The Weaks‘ Evan Bernard laying down the vocals and Chris Baglivo handling the mixing; however, this will not be the final version on their upcoming record. Local indie-punk outfit Ma Jolie released their new LP Polar (Lame-O) yesterday, which you can stream and purchase below. The album was recorded by Joe Reinhart at Headroom Studios and Jorgan Krug at The Turnerdome (a.k.a. The Ox), and was mastered by Will Yip.
New Music Video: “Tiny Raindrop” – Balance and Composure
Doylestown’s Balance and Composure premiered a new dream concept music video for their track "Tiny Raindrop," earlier this morning via Rolling Stone. The song is off their new album The Things We Think We’re Missing (No Sleep). The video was directed by their good friend Alex Henery, and was shot throughout Bucks County and parts of Philly. The band recently toured with Coheed and Cambria, and is schedule to do a Canadian tour in January.
