New Music Video: “Supreme” – Taylor Dunn

Posted on:

Here’s a new music video from emcee/producer Taylor Dunn for the track "Supreme," which premiered yesterday via Okayplayer. The single is off the La Salle University graduate’s latest mixtape Collective Theory. The video was directed by Rob Haffey and Mike Koziel (Director of Photography). "Modern hiphop artists draw inspiration from all over the country. The ‘Supreme’ video aims to explore this idea by creating two distinct aesthetics: an east coast and a west coast vibe."

Way to Go Moses Opening for The Cold and Lovely at KFN June 17

Posted on:

The tandem of Bret Buckman and Ethan Cohen, a.k.a. Way to Go Moses, with recent addition Greg Whitney, setup shop this evening at Kung Fu Necktie. Their self-titled debut serves as a calming peaceful injection of folk rock. The vocals wrap around each other in a reinforcing embrace, developing harmonic texture while avoiding the tendency of turning cheesy because the instrumentation provides a perpetual jangly moving aesthetic that plays into the thoughtful lyrical integrity, keeping the sound crisp. The bill will also be supported by local psych-punk/pop trio Seismic Thrust, whose sound is catchy while remaining raw around the edges, and headlined by the LA-based duo Meghan Toohey (The Weepies, Lenka, Schuyler Fisk) and bassist Nicole Fiorentino (Smashing Pumpkins, Veruca Salt, Spinnerette), a.k.a. The Cold and Lovely. Kung Fu Necktie 1250 N. Front St., 8pm, $8, 21+ – Michael Colavita

Bleeding Rainbow Opening for Tweens at Underground Arts June 15

Posted on:

Embrace the weekend for all it’s worth, and head to Underground Arts tonight. Post-punk quartet Bleeding Rainbow is among a trio of bands including The No Nos, whom kick off the festivities, and headlining Ohio-natives Tweens. The band’s ever-evolving musical pallet is an ever-refined ebb and flow of instrumental outbursts, demonstrating a well-trained pugilist ability to strike at an efficient and frequent clip. Using the whole arsenal at their disposal while exhibiting affective aggression, the omnipresent backend laying the groundwork for the resonating blows of guitar united by the 1-2 punch of Sarah Everton and Rob Garcia’s vocals. Underground Arts, 1200 Callowhill St., 8pm, $10, 21+ – Michael Colavita

Beach Slang Makes Local Live Debut at Golden Tea House June 14

Posted on:

Tonight, the Guild presents an exciting pop-punk show at Golden Tea House featuring the local debut of hometown trio Beach Slang, whom has been freshly signed to Tiny Engines. With an eye on a fall release date, the group that is comprised of JP Flexner (Ex-Friends), Ed McNulty (Crybaby, ex-Nona), and James Snyder (Weston) will head back into the studio later this month to record the follow-up to the Who Would Ever Want Anything So Broken? EP. Snyder’s vocal tone has that worn yet not weary appeal as though with each phrase he offers a piece of himself, while the instrumentation appears to be a tight cohesive unit, balancing a consistently on the go mentality with an overt aggression that should increase in a live setting. Joining in on the festivities will be Long Island garage-punks Crow Bait (Don Giovanni Records), fellow pop-punk locals Awkward Talking, and the duo of Candice Martello and Nick Fanelli, a.k.a. Omar. Golden Tea House, (Please contact one of the acts or venue for more info), 7:30pm, $5 – $7, Donation, All Ages – Michael Colavita
