New Video: “Blue Moon” (Live) – The Extraordinaires
The Extraordinaires already shared a charming music video for their track "Blue Moon," off the band’s latest LP Dress for Nasty Weather. And while on tour in Charlottesville, VA, they stopped in at Blue Moon Diner for a lovely live serenade with Garage Video Sessions before feasting on a tasty-looking breakfast. Here is a good argument for why you should allow your children to play with their utensils. Enjoy!

Juston Stens and The Get Real Gang Record Release Show at The Boot & Saddle Aug. 1
How do you top an incredible music experience like playing drums for a critically acclaimed indie-rock band like Dr. Dog? You travel across the country on a motorcycle to record music with members of bands like Wilco, Spoon, and Apollo Sunshine. That’s exactly what Juston Stens did for the past few years when he wasn’t collaborating with the rotating cast of contributors in The Get Real Gang. The end result of that is the new documentary film I Lay Where I Fall, which documents his bold and exciting journey. And in the spirit of that adventure, he also recorded a new LP, Share the Road, that was nearly half a decade in the making. It showcases his collaborations with the likes of Jessica Lea Mayfield, David Vandervelde, and members of his former Dr. Dog family. The album release party is happening this evening at The Boot & Saddle, where Stens will be jamming with his Get Real crew. They’ll also be joined by pals Goodnight Lights, who most recently released their 3rd full-length, As Far As The Moon, and a music video for the track “Yardwork.” The Boot & Saddle, 1131 S. New The Extraordinaires LP Available for Streaming & Purchase
It’s been way too long since we’ve heard a full-length release from the always creative art-popsters The Extraordinaires. They had faced plenty of obstacles over the past few years with the sudden folding of their record label Punk Rock Payroll and multiple band reconfigurations due to founding member Matt Gibson’s hiatus as Man Man‘s multi-istrumentalist and the exodus of drummer Evan Smoker. However, Gibson has returned, and seems more dedicated to succeed with his comrades than ever. And The Extraordinaires appear to have their songwriting mojo back, judging by their new album Dress for Nasty Weather (Color Theory Records), which you can listen to (and purchase) in its entirety below.
Phreak N’ Queer Arts & Music Festival Kicks Off at PhilaMOCA July 31
Today marks day one of the 4th annual four-day Phreak N’ Queer Arts & Music Festival. The nonprofit event aims to support and embrace many things that we at the Deli are in communion with, providing a forum and voice for a diverse spectrum of artists and recognizing the past while gazing toward the future – meanwhile celebrating the present with a series of excellent artistic exhibitions/shows that are as varied and open-minded as the people that produce, perform and witness them. This evening, PhilaMOCA will host a bill that includes the engaging personal-narrative folk-blues combo of Andrew Bethany Spiers, a.k.a. The Feverfew. The intriguing electro-synth-soul-pop incarnation of Jen Pague-fronted Vita and the Woolf, whom will release their debut EP Fang Song on September 16, will also grace the stage as well as the atmosphere-generating hip-hop creations of Moor Mother Goddess, and the skilled classical improvisations of Brave, among others.
