When a bunch of turbulent Philly rockers play under one roof, you know you’re in for a wild ride. When those Philly rockers are Needle Points, Cold Fronts, and CRUISR, you know you’re in for a wild dance party. Psychedelic outfit Needle Points are sure to get things off to a far-out start, with some guaranteed esoteric visuals, thundering bass lines and tribal drum sequences. Oh, and their bestial get ups are always a treat in and of themselves. Cold Fronts, who finished up a mini U.S tour just before the holidays, are known for their rowdy DIY shows, blasting through their tunes fast and furious to keep kids movin’ and sweatin’. CRUISR will finish the night off with their breezy, Cali-vibes indie pop. Their songs demonstrate a real comprehension of what makes the perfect pop hook. And don’t peace out after the show is over! Riva Ridge, a.k.a. Mel Ridge, just released a new single called "Runs Deep," which you can stream and download for free below. It was recorded, along with several others, last month during a week-long recording session in Woodstock, NY. Ridge plans to release her debut full-length album later this year.

Wichita Recordings’ Girlpool, the duo of Cleo Tucker and Harmony Tividad, recently moved to Philadelphia from Los Angeles. They are currently working on the follow-up to their self-titled EP with Swearin‘s Kyle Gilbride. Below is a good introduction to the band, a new mini-documentary entitled Things Are Okay, which was filmed by Cory McConnell during Girlpool’s East Coast tour last year with former Philadelphians, Slutever. The trio of The Stammer takes on gloom, and repurposes it in a calming framework. Brian Brotman’s pseudo-spoken singing style captures an air of relatable honesty, which are paired with bass lines that pull you through the street and fresh snapping percussion that becomes formidable. Tonight, with a new space-patrolling synth song “Gone” in hand, the group heads to Kung Fu Necktie. Relative newcomers Blood Sound, whose combination of throbbing bass, airy synth, stabilizing percussion and spoken, reflective vocals that create danceable darkwave, are also on bill. We dig CRUISR‘s track "All Over." It’s catchy with the feel-good vibes that we’ve come to know and love from frontman Andy States’ songwriting. With a new bassist Brendan McHale in the fold, quartet RFA (a.k.a. The Really Fast Automobiles – ha…now you know why they go by their initials) plays a show this evening at The Fire. Not so coincidentally, today also marks the release of the group’s new EP Freaking Out. The EP is chock-full of steady flowing energetic rockers that contagiously infect your earwaves. Dan Cousart’s earnest yet measured crooning tone coupled with even-keeled, easy-grooving instrumentation that lets loose at opportune moments. Speaking of loose-energy, you can ride the surf-rocking wave of local trio Astrobrain and pop songstress Courtney Halpin. The eerie rock of Boston’s Oh, Malô rounds out the evening. The Fire, 412 W. Waxahatchee, a.k.a. Katie Crutchfield, just shared the first single, "Air," from her upcoming third LP, which was recorded with Swearin‘s Kyle Gilbride and Keith Spencer. The album is entitled Ivy Tripp, and is due out April 7 via Merge Records. Crutchfield is getting set to head out on a string of European dates followed by a hefty tour of the U.S. and Canada before returning back across the pond for a longer stint. Waxahatchee will be stopping back in Philly on April 8 at Union Transfer with The Goodbye Party and Girlpool.

Here’s a new track from Callowhill with a bit of a raw edge and post-punk flavor called "Our Town." It’s off their debut self-titled EP, which will be released on 7" vinyl via Exotic Fever Records. The four-piece consists of Julia Gaylord, John Pettit, Nikki Karam, and Katy Otto (who is also in Trophy Wife and runs the record label).

Below is a new music video from LE Yikes SURF CLUB for their single "Apocalypsos." It’s the title track off their debut full-length album, which is available via Grizzly Records. The video features footage from Philly Phreakout Vol. 2 and The Pharmacy in South Philly. It was filmed on July 4, 2014 by Swine Films, and edited by Lonely Planet.
