Pop-punk trio Cayetana unleashes some frustration in the official video for “Scott Get The Van, I’m Moving,” which was directed by Adam Peditto. The slow-motion destruction captures the before and after notes suggested through the lyrics, smashing through the positive hope that the past offered. Cayetana is currently on tour with The Sidekicks, which runs through mid-March. (Photo by Ally Newbold)

The Next Generation of Chris Forsyth & The Solar Motel Band at JB’s Feb. 6
Chris Forsyth & The Solar Motel Band have been crafting some of the finest psych-rock-meets-art-rock jams coming out of Philly, and their live performances have also become must-attend events. Though I was sad to hear that guitarist Paul Saukeena (Spacin’, ex-Spooks) had left the band, it was comforting to learn that alien shredder Nick Millevoi has officially joined the group. Those of you who have been keeping up with the local avant-garde music scene should already know the talent that Millevoi possesses. So I’m excited to hear what the next generation of Chris Forsyth & The Solar Motel Band will sound like live this evening at Johnny Brenda’s where they’ll be supported by Baltimore’s Horse Lords and Chicago’s Mind Over Mirrors. Below is a taste of it from their session with Relix. Johnny Brenda’s, 1201 N. Frankford Ave., 9pm, $10, 21+ – Alexis V.

Travel Into the Future w/Willow Talk at North Star Bar Feb. 5
Experimentation steps to the forefront this evening at North Star Bar. The duo of Anders Lindfors and Laura Fisher combines as Willow Talk, an electronic trip-hop scenario. Expanding for live performances, the group travels in a futuristic vehicle, fueled by a diet of morphing electronic beats and steadied by Fisher’s clear, enchanting vocals with drops of pace-changing spoken lyrics for good measure. The overall composition is lifted through the tight, floating vocal effects while remaining anchored to the organic groove. Quintet Allora Mis paints clear sonic settings with controlled brush strokes, offering panoramic views. Adding to the bill are the trio of Blood Sound, who recently released its debut album Nightclub that is full of synth-y, danceable dark wave you’ll surely dig as it gradually fortifies around you, and instrumental two-piece In Place. North Star Bar, 2639 Poplar St., 8pm, $10, 21+ – Michael Colavita
