Brooklyn/Philly emcee Kuf Knotz recruited The Lawsuit‘s Brian Dale Allen Strouse to lay down the hook for his latest single "Get Free." Producer Goldenspiral (a.k.a. Adrian Michael) also brought out their inner-reggae warriors on this track from his forthcoming album A Positive Light (Ropeadope). Kuf Knotz will be celebrating its release in Philadelphia on Saturday, March 28 at Franky Bradley’s (formerly Sisters), the new Center City restaurant/bar/music venue from Mark Bee (Silk City, N. 3rd).
New Music Video: “Got It” – Mumblr
Mumblr just shared a new music video for "Got It," the opener of their latest LP Full of Snakes (Fleeting Youth). Combining clips of the group biking around Philly on a rainy day and raw footage from their performance at now defunct Golden Tea House (RIP), you find a juxtaposition between laidback contemplation and all out primal rage, which matches the versatility of the band’s instrumentation and Nick Morrison’s vocals. The video was directed by Ian Ross, and we’re sure that you’ll be able to catch Mumblr performing live in town again sooner than later.
New Video: “Satan Said Dance” (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah Cover) – Vita and the Woolf

Slaughter Beach, Dog Opening for Hostage Calm at The Barbary Feb. 25
Modern Baseball’s Jake Ewald’s side project steps into the Barbary tonight, opening a mid-week showcase. Slaughter Beach, Dog continues an established standard of developing lyrically rich songs that are personally relatable with thought-provoking images and loose Velcro-sticky catchy phrases. That coupled with a tight pop-punk instrumentation, allowing the words to dissolve and sink in yet retains a reserve of strong-willed force when called upon. This bill also features another emotive outfit in CLIQUE, whose constant flowing instrumentation provides the feeling of perpetual motion. The night is rounded out by intensely smooth, melodic hardcore of Such Gold, while Hostage Calm headline amid their final run of shows. New Track: “We Are Selfish” – The Ghost In You
"We Are Selfish," the latest from Billy Polard, a.k.a. The Ghost In You, serves as an eerie reminder of the depths of sadness and the painful thoughts and consequences it can cause. Acoustic guitar, the soft touches of key, and those sincere melodic vocals deliver a forthright gut-wrenching message that is all but assured to trigger an emotional response. Polard really knows how to tug at the heartstrings. (Photo by Kevin La Torre)
Moon Bounce Opening for Flamingosis at KFN Feb. 24
Corey Regensburg, a.k.a. Moon Bounce, brings his custom formula of electro-R&B to Kung Fu Necktie tonight. Taking that smooth and sensual soul vibe and supercharging it with that aforementioned foundational get-down bounce, then, Regensburg reaches back implementing his knack for allowing elements to futuristically spin out in an intoxicating twist. That mind-warping, up close and personal feel is certain to generate some natural heat. The united front of Grave Goods, Heaven In Stereo (a.k.a. Ben Pramuk), and SamGreens, known as Club Mega, will also be laying down some grooves, and the experimental sampling output of Flamingosis (Aaron Velasquez), whom recently released a new album Kahunastyle via Keats Collective, fills out this Tuesday night escape from reality. New Track: “Fresh Tourniquets” – Torito
Produced by YLXA, “Fresh Tourniquets,” the latest from rhyme-slayer Torito, is a torrential tirade, seamlessly transitioning between ideas in a flash. The leather bull mask-adorned wordsmith comes at you full bore yet maintains an ease in effort and tone – a sprinter so well conditioned that he burns the competition without breaking a sweat. Sit back, flip that play switch, and find out what happens when you mess with the bull. (Obviously, "you’ll get the horns." – Assistant Principal "Dick" Vernon, The Breakfast Club)
New Track: “Forecasting” – Heyward Howkins
Heyward Howkins can sound so polished yet effortless that his recordings oftentimes have a timeless elegance to them. Melodies flow from his finger tips and lips as if you are having an evening of great coversations over drinks with an old friend. Well, that’s exactly what we’re feeling with his track "Forecasting," which is off his new double A-side single that also includes the song "Midway." There are currently plans in the works to make the release available on 7" vinyl.
