Tonight is the kickoff to WXPN‘s inaugural Key Fest, which will be camped out for the next three nights at MilkBoy Philly. They’ll be showcasing a variety of local acts from different genres throughout the event. This evening, you’ll find a more indie rock/pop punk-tinged lineup with Hurry, Cayetana, Commonwealth Choir, and Slingshot Dakota. Tomorrow night mellows out with their folk/singer-songwriter segment featuring The Lawsuits, Rosu Lup, and Dylan Jane. And finally, Saturday night will provide some booty shaking with hip-hop/R&B performers Tiani Victoria, The Bul Bey, Brielle, and Jacqueline Constance. (BTW: Take note – looks like headliner STS dropped off the bill.) Where do your tastes lie? MilkBoy Philly, 1100 Chestnut St., 8pm, $10-$12, 21+ – H.M. Kauffman

I IM EYE MY for the W/N at W/N W/N April 22
The pairing of Al Creedon (ex-Bleeding Rainbow) & Sean Hamilton (Spacin’, ex-Acid Kicks), which constitutes I IM EYE MY, produces results that experimentally pull from a diverse sonic palate. With a percussive beat-forward foundation, the pairing is geared to create electronic tribal soundscapes with a twisted yet intoxicating futuristic spin, locking you in as you become synched up to rhythms and slipping in those well-placed elements of strange along the way. Tonight at W/N W/N, they will joined by Baltimore’s Sick Lion, whose new Overturned Trash Can Lid LP is due out on April 24 via Gaarden Records, crafting danceably, dreary material, while orchestrating a middle ground where sadness and movement coexist. Detroit transplants Growth Program get things started, dishing out stretches of panoramic noise. W/N W/N, 931 Spring Garden St., 8pm, Free (Photo by Ryan Muir) – Michael Colavita
New Music Video: “Easy” – Legendary Divorce
Noise-punk four-piece Legendary Divorce, who originally formed as a Nirvana tribute band, features members of Ladder Devils, The Starting Line, and The Minor Times. The group just released its debut six-song EP Make Me (Reptilian Records), which you can stream and purchase HERE. They also shared a seriously aggro-feeling new music video (that premiered over at Brooklyn Vegan yesterday) for the track "Easy" (below), which was directed by R.E. Medlin.
New Track: “Dried Out” – Creepoid
We’re very excited that former Deli Philly Artist of the Year, Creepoid, are coming home to Philly after their short stint as southerners in Savannah, Georgia. You can welcome them home this Thursday, April 23 (well, before they hit the road again next week) when they headline Underground Arts. And check out their latest single, "Dried Out," which you’ll find on the band’s forthcoming album Cemetery Highrise Slum, due out June 23 via Thursday frontman Geoff Rickly’s Collect Records.
New Track: “Palace” – Commonwealth Choir
Indie rockers Commonwealth Choir has released a new single called “Palace.” The track takes a tri-fold instrumental start with melodic guitar power chords, joined by percussion that establishes a marker and synth as the song sets sail. With a unified energy and contagious lyrics, “Palace” makes an excellent addition to that springtime rotation. The group is slated to play this Thursday, April 23 at MilkBoy Philly for opening night of WXPN’s inaugural Key Fest.
Kate Faust EP Release Show at JB’s April 21
When we first discovered Kate Faust many years ago, she was making a name for herself as one of the backup singers in folk/blues-rock outfit Toy Soldiers. After breaking off from the pack of former Temple students, Faust set out in search of her own musical voice. Armed with a keyboard and a voice that longed for the stage, she went through an awkward phase as a jazz/cabaret singer-songwriter. It wasn’t until the release of her EP Crucial Companion when we really took notice of her as a solo artist, channeling her inner Kate Bush. Tonight at Johnny Brenda’s, you’ll find Faust journeying into the next phase of her career, and with the release of her first single, "In Bloom," from her new EP Eros, it seems that she’ll be riding the wave of electro-soul/R&B. She’ll be joined by like-minded, lauded local vet Res and Donn T, Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson’s sister, who will also be celebrating the release of her new album Flight of the Donn T. Get Psyched w/The Orange Drop at Bourbon & Branch April 20
After releasing a new EP Have You Got It Yet? earlier this year, recorded with producer Jeff Zeigler and with a new addition of Peter Stanko (Sweet Island) on guitar, The Orange Drop are set to make their first local appearance of 2015 at Bourbon & Branch. The quartet crafts psychedelic tunes which can manifest a heavier mind-absorbing air as the drone–guitar and persistent percussion meld, forming organic walls of sound around you and Marc-Andre Basile’s clean, conjuring vocals, stretched out in a hypnotic fashion. Psych outfit Seismic Thrust has a calm, jangly groove-expanding vibe, gradually pushing further out as they integrate into their surroundings. Brooklyn-based trio Sky Picnic complete a bill set to place your head in the heavens. Bourbon & Branch, 705 N. 2nd St., 7pm, $8, 21+ – Michael Colavita
