New Music Video: “Doin’ It Right” – STS x RJD2
Directed by Nick Rose, this new music video for “Doin’ It Right” combines live footage from STS & RJD2‘s performance with West Philadelphia Orchestra at Underground Arts and the studio version of the track. It brings to life the commanding exuberance of the song and collaboration. The enlistment of the lively, bouncing funk of WPO further accentuates the party-down atmosphere that it creates. STS returns to Underground Arts on Tuesday, June 9 to support The Very Best and Heems.

New Track: “Save Me” – Pattern is Movement
Pattern is Movement is the subject of the next Shaking Through episode that will be available to the public this Wednesday. Weathervane Muisc did recently share the single, "Save Me," which was recorded at Miner Street Recordings during the session. The duo announced about a month ago that they would be disbanding, and you can say farewell to them on Saturday, June 20 at Johnny Brenda’s with Dream Safari and Norwegian Arms.
New Music Video: “Before The World Was Big” – Girlpool
As the release of their LP Before The World Was Big via Wichita Recordings on June 2 rapidly approaches, Girlpool (the pairing of Cleo Tucker & Harmony Tividad) have shared a new music video for its title track. Shot on Coney Island, Allyssa Yohana captures the joyful essence of youth that the song’s lyrics embody, and the vintage film reel effect is an excellent touch. Step into summer! New Music Video: “Ten Feet Tall” – Plainview
Here’s a neat music video from the band Plainview for for its single "Ten Feet Tall." Most of the footage was done in one take as a typical party night of acoustic serenades, waterboarding and ladies just having some fun cuts away to the folk-tinged pop-punk quintet of Drexel students rockin’ out in the basement as we tend to do in Philly. The video was shot and edited by Evan Chapman (of Square Peg Round Hole). Plainview will be releasing their new EP I’ve Seen This Before tomorrow, and will celebrate its release on Friday, May 29 at The Brick House. (Photo by Red Beard Photography)
Birds of Maya Sighting at KFN May 17
It’s about that time when the stars align, and we are treated to another Birds of Maya sighting. The PSYCH-ROCK power trio appears at a handful of shows a year, but hopeful these jam sessions will come more frequently once they release their upcoming album. Yup – a new Birds of Maya record does exist! They’re co-headlining Kung Fu Necktie tonight with the Bay Area’s CCR Headcleaner. You know what you need to do. Kung Fu Necktie, 1250 N. Drift Into the Stratosphere w/Gorgeous Porch at The Fire May 15
As Gorgeous Porch, Chris Wood (Orbits to Leslie, Grimace Federation) threads airy, deep Casio sounds that take on organ-esque qualities, steadily moving forward, pushed by his always impressive drum work that smacks ahead as his vocals drift into the stratosphere. Wood performs tonight at The Fire, and will take those daydreaming semi-conscious vocals, aligning them with the conveyor belt of instrumental combinations, resulting in vibrant/introspective tunes. He’ll be joined by the absurd comical R&B/funk stylings of "Bulgarian transplants" Shy Boyz, pop-rock duo newly turned trio The Phosphenes, and hip-hop collective Thylacine. The Fire, 412 W. Girard Ave., 9pm, $8, 21+ – Michael Colavita
