The Weaks will be perform at North Star Bar this Friday, July 24, on a bill that also includes Reggie & The Full Effect as well as Pentimento.

Satellite Hearts enlisted the services of The Lawsuits‘ Joe Bisirri to help produce their new LP Desire Forces The Flow. The trio finds an excellent balance of catchy bass-rolling glam-pop and heavy guitar-driven psych-rock. It can hit like a gentle wave or smash violently against the shore. The band has a twin-billing on August 2, playing the 2nd St. Festival during the day, followed by Bourbon & Branch that evening.

The brooding, impending storm of sound known as Lightninging is one that gradually develops, marinating in subtle layers of psychedelic tones that service as warnings for when the rains are going to come. Tonight, that downpour occurs at Ortlieb’s, bringing with it forays of melodic guitar runs, while engulfing you in an excursion which naturally pushes further as the quintet digs down into a jammed-out sweet spot that hits a spot on the musical map which they desire. The experimental rock of local four-piece Purples combines harmonious vocals, groove-thumping backend, and guitar heat with cinematic scene-shaping sonic twists. Yacht rockers Work Drugs are gearing up to launch their new album Louisa on August 7 via Bobby Cahn Records. They also plan to make a run through California in the fall, and return home to perform on Tuesday, September 10 at Boot & Saddle. Femme fatales Louie Louie inject an enjoyable, heavy dose of 60’s garage-pop into the Philly music scene with their debut single "Out In The Streets" and its B-side "Miles Around." Below is the new single and music video from Kurt Vile for the track "Pretty Pimpin." It’s the first single from his forthcoming LP b’lieve i’m goin down…, due out September 25 via Matador Records. Vile will be performing in Philly once again on Friday, October 9 at Union Transfer. The video was directed by Daniel Henry (Jack White, Snakehips).

Lithuania have issued a new single called “Place of No Tomorrow,” off their forthcoming LP Hardcore Friends, which is being released on August 14 via Lame-O Records. Heavy-pounding percussion and jagged guitars set the stage for the forceful yet catchy song as its vocals express an agitation with the status quo. Lithuania are set to perform this Saturday, July 25 at PhilaMOCA as part of OK Fest 2.

Radiator Hospital has a new acoustic single, titled "Stop," that ends way sooner than we want it to. The track can be found on Visiting Waters #1, the first release from Apollonian Sound’s charity single series.
