WXPN’s XPoNential Fest 2015 will be wrapping up its weekend of music and family events today. Opening things off will be a pair of local up-an-comers in the ramshackle, youthful exuberance of the Pine Barons and the polished indie-pop feels of Cheerleader. They’ll be making way for national touring powerhouses like Courtney Barnett and The Long Bellow. Once again, the sun will be shining down on everyone so grab a blanket and find your relaxing, comfy spot on the waterfront. Wiggins Park/Susquehanna Bank Center (Camden), 2 Riverside Dr./One Market, 12pm, $30 (XPN Members)/$60 (Public) + $25 (Grace Potter/George Ezra for those w/o a 3-day pass), All Ages – H.M. Kauffman
Roam Deeper Into the Labyrinth w/Edelweiss at Mantua Yacht Club July 25
Calculated but not cold, Edelweiss captures the precision of math-rock while developing an open-air feel. This juxtaposition allows expansive scenic musical routes to unfold as one roams deeper into the labyrinth. Tonight at Mantua Yacht Club, they will be joined by Howlish, whose folky, personal songwriting takes a freeing ambient dash with vocals that incorporate a yearning. The danceably dark, percussive-synth electronic tone of Blood Sound gets the blood flowing while simultaneously keeping you on high alert, soothing but with an eerie sense of danger, and they just released a new set of material Too Much Sun and Not Enough Gloom at the Beach. A pair of Union, New Jersey bands including the emotive folk of Fire is Motion and the melodic experimental journey of El Americano completes this bill. Mantua Yacht Club, (Please contact one of the acts or venue for more info.), 8:30pm, $5, All Ages – Michael Colavita
WXPN’s XPoNential Fest w/Son Little, Hop Along, Vita and the Woolfe & More at Wiggins Park/Susquehanna Bank Center July 25
It’s definitely festival season, and WXPN’s XPoNential Fest will be kickin’ it across the bridge in Camden at Wiggins Park. You’ll find some of our beloved locals holding things down in the early part of the day for XPN’s national touring favorites. Starting things off at the Marina Stage in the baking sun of noon will be the powerful, soulful voice of Jennifer Pague with her group Vita and the Woolf. You might have caught Frances Quinlan performing new material last night at OK FEST, but the indie darling will be in full-band mode with her merry men of Hop Along at the River Stage. And the last Philly native to perform for the day will be son of a preacher man and Anti- artist Aaron Livingston, a.k.a. Son Little. However, you’ll have plenty to keep you around through the evening with St. Vincent, My Morning Jacket, Lord Huron and more on the bill. Wiggins Park/Susquehanna Bank Center (Camden), 2 Riverside Dr./One Market, 12pm, $30 (XPN Members)/$60 (Public) + $25 (St. Vincent/MMJ for those w/o a 3-day pass), All Ages – H.M. Kauffman

Louie Louie Cassingle Release Show at JB’s July 23
Fledgling garage-pop outfit Louie Louie will be celebrating the release of its debut cassingle “Out In The Street” this evening at Johnny Brenda’s. The all-female quartet, made up of Emily Robb (of Lantern) on guitar/vox alongside Leslie Burnette on organ/vox, Emily Eichelberger on bass/vox, and Jenna Robb on drums/vox, harken back to the innocent sounds of 60’s groups like The Ronettes and The Shangri-Las, except with amped up instrumentation influenced by the grit and grime of Philly’s DIY scene. Louie Louie will be opening for Robb’s other all-female dream-pop project Myrrias, who will be saying “farewell” to its current drummer Casey Bell (Break It Up). It will be Bell’s last show with the band before heading off to Nevada. They’ll also be joined by good pals Long Spells (featuring members of A Sunny Day in Glasgow, The Fantastic Imagination, Arc in Round, and Public Record) and Bell’s other project Fine Motor with boyfriend Dan Morse (Wigwams, Break It Up).
