Residuels & Thrills Opening for Foe Destroyer at Boot & Saddle July 30

Posted on:

When Iggy Pop has some kind words to say about what you’ve done with one of his songs, then you know that you are moving in the right direction. Residuels, led by Justin Pittney (formerly of Moon Women), continue to bash out exhilarating garage rock. The band has an upcoming album in the works that contains new material and re-recorded songs that Pittney had laid down in the studio in the early stages of the project, before the exodus of drummer Pat Troxell (Creepoid) and its reformation into a trio, with the addition of Michael Cammarata (Suburban Living, ex-Drink Up Buttercup, ex-Night Panther) and Kyle Garvey (The Interest Group). You’ll get to hear this bigger sound this evening on the wonderfully powerful system of South Philly’s Boot & Saddle, where Residuels will be opening for Denton’s Foe Destroyer, which is made up of Daniel Garcia, Cade Sadler, and Chris McQueen (of Snarky Puppy). They’ll also be sharing the bill with Thrills, the electro-rock project from Michael Mullin (of Vacationer and Ratkicker), who will be making its live performance debut. Mullin will be joined on stage by Vacationer bandmates Ken Vasoli and Greg Altman. Boot & Saddle, 11131 S. Broad St., 8pm, $10, 21+ – Q.D. Tran

New Track: “Hotline” – Dream Safari

Posted on:

As the heat turns the outdoors into a pressure cooker, Chris Coulton, a.k.a. Dream Safari, has released a new single called “Hotline.” The tropical bounce of percussion and keys provides that fluid moving foundation, while saxophonist Max Swan provides a silky sensual finish. Embrace warmer temperatures, or at least, chill out with a cold beverage and these island vibes.

New Video: “Gymnopedie 1.2” (Live) – Lushlife and Friends (Feat. Power Animal & Eric Slick)

Posted on:

While we wait with great anticipation for Lushlife‘s follow-up to 2012’s Plateau Vision, Raj Haldar has teamed up with Deli favorites Keith Hampson (Power Animal) and Eric Slick (Dr. Dog, Lithuania) to re-record/reimagine "Gymnopedie 1.2." The track was originally a nod to French composer and pianist Erik Satie’s "Gymnopedie No. 1," which Haldar obsessed over during his formative years in high school. The intimate at-home acoustic performance was directed by Peter English and edited by Larry DeMark.

Free Download: “The Storm” – The Stammer

With the chilling thud & snap combination of backend cut through by pseudo-spoken vocals, sparks of guitar and eerily spacey organ, “The Storm” is oddly energetic and calm at the same time. The track, which you can stream and download for free below, is off post-punk trio The Stammer’s forthcoming album Days in Between, which is due out on July 31. That evening, the band will also have a release show at The Fire with Exiles, Mock Suns, and Blood Sound.
