After releasing their debut EP If More People Bought Art More People Would Buy Art, which became The Deli Philly’s August 2015 Record of the Month, LOUDS spent the last year building out their studio in Port Richmond and refining their recording and production skills. Below is the group’s first sampling, "Speak," which is avaialable for free download and will appear on their forthcoming full-length album CHARM UP!. You’ll probably notice a shift from electro-pop to a more organic 60’s/70’s rock-tinged sound, a result of brothers Charlie & Petie Brooks working with a full band this time around. You can catch the gang live on Friday, April 29 at Boot & Saddle with The Dove & The Wolf and Myrrias.
New Track: “Orion” (Live) – Tapes & Tubes
Recorded live at W/N W/N, this take of “Orion” by Tapes & Tubes (a.k.a. Austin Potter) paints a historically nostalgic portrait of a town that’s been rundown by time. Catching a bird’s eye view, the brief scene is a reminder that a simple setting still carries a deeper story. Tapes & Tubes will bringing his poetic verses to Ortlieb’s on Thursday, April 28, with Patrick Mansfield, Lauren and Paddy, and Thick Red Wine.
New Music Video: “I Can’t Live Without Your Love” – A Sunny Day in Glasgow
A creepy, hostile scenario engulfs the group in A Sunny Day in Glasgow’s new video for “I Can’t Live Without Your Love”. The band is taken individually off the streets under duress, and forced to perform by a masked man. The identity of the unknown assailant is eventually revealed toward the conclusion. New Track: “Sweet Wife Life” – Son Step
Featured on their forthcoming full-length album Natural Majique, Son Step‘s new single “Sweet Wife Life” offers a cozy melodic warmth, as keys and percussion cruise, roll and lift the soft, harmonious vocals, maintaining a rhythmic course with an experimental-pop stretch. With the album due out on May 27, the band is already set to head out on a tour. However, you’ll be able to find them in Philly this Friday, April 22 at Magic Gardens.
New Video: Tired of Tomorrow (Nothing Documentary – Part II)
Directed by Don Argott, the second installment of Nothing’s Tired of Tomorrow documentary, dips into the recording studio. With an eye on the creative process, band members, as well as producer Will Yip and Collect Records’ Geoff Rickly, offer additional insight and info behind the making of the album, which arrives on May 13 via Relapse Records.
New Videos: “Body Double” (Live) & “Integration Loop” (Live) – Lushlife + CSLSX
Lushlife and CSLSX brought a pair of songs from The Deli Philly’s March Record of the Month, Ritualize (Western Vinyl), to the live stage at The Special Without Brett Davis. Intertwining the sleek, gliding, futuristic instrumentation with Lush laying down some percussion, the group serves up the smooth fire of “Body Double” and the meditative haze of “Integration Loop”. Lushlife will be back in town on Sunday, May 22 at Johnny Brenda’s with Islands. Grab your tix soon, or you’ll be left out!
New Track: “Devotion” – Night Panther & New EP Announcement
Electro-pop outfit Night Panther officially announced its breakup in November 2014, but as most of us should know by now with the recent return of LCD Soundsystem and Guns N’ Roses, the end isn’t always the end when it comes to a band’s life. We received an email this morning that the group’s first single in almost two years, "Devotion," is now available for streaming and download. There is also an EP scheduled for release on May 1, entitled P I N K & B L A C K. Niiiiice!
New Video: “Arranged” (Live – BrooklynVegan Acoustic Sessions) – Abi Reimold
Below is a live solo performance by Abi Reimold of "Arranged," which is the opening track from her latest album Wriggling (Sad Cactus). It was recorded in Philadelphia inside a defunct train tunnel with a skylight for BrooklynVegan Acoustic Sessions. You can catch Riemold this evening at The Leonard Pearlstein Gallery for Philly Radness, where you’ll also experience an "interactive pop-up skatepark," as well as the sounds of Queen of Jeans and Hemming. Debut Grayling EP Available for Streaming & Purchase
The duality of introspectively emotive lyricism meeting the outpouring of external release come to a head when Grayling, a.k.a. Lexi Campion (formerly of Edelweiss), peers inward whilst pushing outward. The result, her debut EP Everything That Burns (which was recently released via NDE Records), is a musical tug of war – heavy and gripping. Hold on tight.

New Track: “Falling Into Skies” – Queue
Quintet Queue breathes an open-air melody on “Falling Into Skies”. A climbing guitar line falls into step with the percussion as Olivia Price’s vocals emerge through the highly-elevated clouds. Hovering in that semi-conscious groove, the single places you in an elegant, awakening limbo.
New Track: “About A Girl” (Nirvana Cover) – Beach Slang
Here is a new cover of "About A Girl" by Philly’s own Beach Slang. It was recorded for Doused In Mud, Soaked In Bleach, a tribute album to Nirvana’s Bleach, which was released this past weekend by Robotic Empire for Record Store Day and also includes contributions from Circa Survive, Young Widows, Daughters and many others. Beach Slang will be kicking off a national tour this week that will wrap up with a homecoming show on Saturday, May 21 at Union Transfer, before the gang heads off to Primavera Sound.
