New Music Video: “I Want You” – Marian Hill

Posted on:

We could probably never pull off a choreographed dance, but we certainly apreciate when it’s done well. Marian Hill enlisted the help of some talented folks to film their music video for the single, "I Want You," at the YouTube Space NY. In one take to boot! Or should we say, "One time, one time, one time"? The performance was directed and choreographed by Ian Eastwood, and you can find "I Want You" on their full-length release, ACT ONE (Republic Records). (Photo by Pablo Amoretti)

The Deli Philly’s Featured Artist Poll Winner: Miles High

Posted on:
With a moniker born from an episode of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and a Disco Biscuits show being a pivotal point in the discovery of electronic music for him, producer Miles High has certainly found plenty of inspiration from the City of Brotherly Love. Blending hip-hop beats, influenced by its “golden age,” with modern-day electronica, the emerging local artist assists in demonstrating just how deep and diverse the pool of talent goes in the Philly music community. “Looking to just continue paving a positive path” – Miles High prolifically creates beats, building on his mind-altering catalogue, while working to create a proper showcase for his material in a live setting. Having recently won a heated race in our monthly Featured Artist Poll, we are happy to have a chance to share more info about the up-and-coming producer’s life and work HERE.

Inaugural National Park Feat. American Trappist, Madalean Gauze & More at Bourbon & Branch Oct. 22

Posted on:

National Park is a miniature festival curated by Painted Lady Records in which seven of Philly’s own emerging musicians will play a sampling of music that just might put them on the map. This conceptualized event brings together a diverse lineup of singer-songwriters and bands, who otherwise would not likely share a stage together, providing you with a taste of their music catalogue. The inaugural event will be co-headlined by the solo effort from River City Extension‘s Joe Michelini, American Trappist. Also sharing top billing for this evening will be the genre-bending songwriting of Madalean Gauze, who has made a name for herself locally since releasing her debut EP American War. The showcase will also feature multi-instrumentalist Chet Williams, Modern Television, Muccino, and more. Bourbon & Branch, 705 N. 2nd St., 7pm, $10-$15, 21+ – Bill McThrill

Weekend Warrior, October 21 – 23

Disenchanting, unfiltered, steamrolling melodies streams from Amanda X. That focused post-punk sincerity tumbles ahead in a gritty, graceful manner, compiling a calm catharsis whilst simultaneously exposing the raw threads of emotion. This Saturday’s lineup at Everybody Hits is also reinforced by the delicate introspections of Yankee Bluff, whose loose jangly vibes are hardwired by a polished connection, and the bombarding, heavy rhythms and unrelenting riffs that coalesce as Hound swings for the fences. The exuberant, poetry-engrained punk of Pujol provides another intriguing wrinkle to this evening. Everybody Hits, 529 W. Girard Ave., 8:30pm, $8, All Ages (Photo by Scott Troyan) – Michael Colavita
