Ohio transplants Sports are reissuing their second album, All Of Something, on cassette via Father/Daughter Records. Below is the new music video for their single, "Reality TV," which was directed and edited by Nick Nazmi. You’ll find the group sadly but fondly watching friends partying around them and giving the gang love on their own SportsTV channel. Its ending feels rather bittersweet, but Sports have some more good news for their friends and fans with the release of their debut, Sunchokes, on tape, as well as digital streaming services like Spotify and iTunes. Dominic Angelella’s creative evolution stretches from Hop Along to DRGN KING and Lithuania with stops along the way. His latest musical manifestation is simply titled Dominic, and will release an album, Goodnight Doggies, on February 3 via Lame-O Records. The album’s first single, “Birthday Song,” possesses subtle layers of instrumental warmth, intermingled with a catchy, folk jangle and a thoughtful personal narrative, sweeping one up in a pensive daydream with a grounded core. Tonight, Angelella will be unveiling his latest project at NoLibs watering hole Ortlieb’s. He’ll be supported by Vexxed, which features Lucy Stone (who had been part of the recent incarnation of DRGN KING). A supernatural, psychedelic hue radiates from the raspy, tortured folk of Joshua Bright. With his new album And All Along A Wolf, which was produced by fellow Man Like Machine compatriot Giuseppe DiCristino, as well as Keith Blackmore, Bright delivers a futuristic take on isolation. A hauntingly desolate, Americana feel is illuminated by the shimmer of spacey synth.

After originally learning about a full-length album being in the works with the help of Terry Yerves and Quentin Stoltzfus (Light Heat, ex-Mazarin) about a year ago, A.M. Mills, led by Drew Mills of Blood Feathers, has finally shared not an LP, as expected, but a six-song EP, simply titled First Recordings. Its introspective narrative finds Mills wandering over Dylan-esque musical terrain as he grapples with heartache and the ghost of a lost love. It’s a cathartic release, and A.M. Mills will be sorting through this collection of songs/feelings and more this evening at Ortlieb’s. They’ll also be be joined by August Wells, the collaborative project from Ken Griffin (Rollerskate Skinny, Kid Silver, Favourite Sons) and John Rauchenberger, and local Philebrity singer-songwriter Joey Sweeney. Dr. Dog just surprised us with a new, mostly acoustic full-length album, Abandoned Mansion. It was actually recorded before their last LP, The Psychedelic Swamp, which was funded by a grant from Pig Iron Theater Company that was about to expire so its release took precedent at the time. And if you purchase a download of Abandoned Mansion from now to the end of January, all the proceeds will be donated to the Southern Poverty Law Center.

The West Philly quartet of Gladys the Gardener, consisting of Nic Sanderson, Bailey Dolan, Andrew Williams and Zooey Cox, inscribes a fuzzy, melodic haze with their debut LP, Pencils Down. A scattering perimeter is met by the consistent drive ahead. However, in moments, that path veers in a pleasant, unexpected smashing, with a punk persuasion or spacing out on a psych-frequency. Myrrias just announced that they will be releasing a full-length album, titled Spectra, this Friday, December 2 via Jeff Zeigler’s new record label Soft Dystopia, and it will be available on cassette and digitally. The record will consist of four previously unreleased tracks as well as live recordings of songs found on their debut Endless Winter Session. They’ll be celebrating the album’s arrival next Wednesday, December 7 at Johnny Brenda’s with Valley Exit (who are also releasing their first LP), Long Spells, and Sububurban Living (DJ set). Myrrias will be taking a break from playing out live after the release show as keyboardist/vocalist Mikele Edwards prepares to give birth in the coming year (Congrats, Mikele!); however, the group will continue writing and recording as they plan to release another EP in late spring/early summer. Take their latest single, "PEAK," for a spin below, along with its B-side "My Spell," which was written by Emily Robb for the band, before forming Louie Louie.
