New Track: “Daylight” – Shadow Band

Posted on:

Mike Bruno and his compatriots, who are now better know as Shadow Band, have been crafting and refining their musical skills for years now around Philly. And with their signing to Mexican Summer, who will be releasing the group’s first full-length, Wilderness Of Love, due out February 24, it sounds like they are ready to cast their psych-folk net upon a larger audience. Below is the second offering from their forthcoming LP, titled "Daylight," and they’ll be heading out on tour next month in support of the new record. You can experience them live in town on February 25 at Baird Mansion Atrium, which will be their Philly record release show.

The Deli Philly’s Yearly Readers’/Fans’ Poll for Indie Rock Winner: RFA

Posted on:

The Deli Philly’s Yearly Readers’/Fans’ Poll for Indie Rock just wrapped up. Thanks to all who casted their vote in support of their favorite emerging artists in our list of nominee.

Congrats are in order for the "four, bright strapping young men" of RFA for seriously rallying their fans to victory! The Philly quartet first caught our attention with its irresistible party anthem, "Freaking Out". And it looks like Dan Cousart, Alec Powell, Brendan McHale, and Christian Turzo have managed to keep their momentum moving along just fine on the back of their latest EP Something New From RFA. Join them in the AM this Saturday, February 4 at The Tip for the kickoff of RFA’s Erin Express – Kegs n Eggs events. "Start your day off with some Rock n Roll and some cheap beer…oh and of course, omelettes."

New Track: “CainamaniaC” – Spirits

“CainamaniaC,” the latest from Spirits, glides on a silky silhouette of synth. A mystical-sounding flute initiates the journey; vocal harmonies close the emotional distance as the song stretches forward. Press play, and wander along with Spirits.

Weekend Warrior, January 27 – 29

Posted on:
Lately, a general gloomy atmosphere has hovered overhead. However, amid these dreary conditions, an unexpected return has taken shape. Pet Milk is back (marking the group’s first time on stage since 2013) with a show this Saturday at Everybody Hits. Not only will the band be exploring the sweet sincerity, searing space, and downhill assertions interconnecting twee, shoegazing, and punk into one, but they’ll also be doing so with a pairing of lead vocalists in Adriane Dalton and Sarah Schimeneck for the first time. Before heading into the studio with Jeff Zeigler next month to work on a full-length album, Callowhill will be bringing their rhythmically heavy thrust, which is complemented by jagged riffs and lush melodies. The quartet bridges the gap between the return of one band and the maiden voyage of another in Green Wolf, which is made up of Josh Agran (Paint It Black, Cassavetes), Deven Craige (Little Big League), and Joe Godino (The Menzingers). – Michael Colavita

The duo of Paloma Gil and Lou Hayat just premiered a new music video for the single, "Seven Days," yesterday via NPR, and they also shared that I Don’t Know What To Feel will be reissued on March 24 by Fat Possum with two additional tracks. Congrats, ladies! (Photo by CJ Harvey)

New Music Video: “Dreamcatcher” – Mr. Manic

Posted on:

Hyper-kinetic electronic beats are visually represented through frenetic location transitions in the video for Mr. Manic‘s “Dreamcatcher”. Featured on the forthcoming EP MKULTRAVIOLET, due out on March 26, the song’s rapid delivery teams with its mind-altering musical backdrop, pulling one into its alternate dimension. It’s a shape-shifting, electro-psych experience that’s not for the faint of heart.

New Track: “All Around The Neighborhood” – Pilkington

One easily gets swept up by “All Around The Neighborhood,” the latest from Pilkington. Instrumentally dashing through the streets, the song blossoms in power-pop splendor before stripping back to a duel vocal tug and pull. You can find them performing next in Philly on February 9 at MilkBoy, sharing a bill with Carroll and Bad Bad Hats.

New Track: “Against The Odds” (Feat. Bilal) – Hezekiah

Posted on:

Another single from Hezekiah’s EP Gods has emerged. Featuring Grammy-award winning singer-songwriter/musician/producer Bilal, “Against The Odds” is shrouded in ominous tones, cultivating a suspenseful air as Hezekiah demonstrates a determined, serious, confession-inflected delivery. Bilal’s smooth vocals provide a glimpse of hope before the emcee’s powerful verses push through with an honest unfiltered take.
