Rego Seconds
Rebecca Rego has one of those magnetic voices that can simply do no wrong. Next month her band, Rego, returns with their fourth studio album since their debut in 2006, and the album finds them moving in a subtly new direction. Rebecca’s vocals on Seconds are beautifully highlighted through the album with a deep tapestry of skillfully pluck guitars, trumpets, and warm drums sounds. Rego is a band that deserves something big and they may just get it with Seconds.
Rego is celebrating the release of Seconds at Lincoln Hall on Feb. 11th.
Narrow Sparrow “Spooky Head”
Narrow Sparrow has released a new video for their track "Spooky Head". The track comes their debut ep SYNTHWORKS which you can download for free here.
Moon Furies “Mercury 13”
What do you get when you combine members of Moon Furies with members of Earth Program add roller blades and synchronized dancing? The new video for "Mercury 13" by Moon Furies.
The video shot around the city and primarily at Double Door last month.
Martha Berner & The Significant Others “Fool’s Fantasy”
The latest album from Martha Berner & The Significant Others was released last month and now comes the new video for the album’s title track, "Fool’s Fantasy". The band has also released another track from the album called "Brave".
Netherfriends “Middle America”
Netherfriends has released the next track of his Middle America album. Below is "Bloomington, IN". Middle America will be released next month and is part of his larger 50 Songs in 50 States project.
Netherfriends will be celebrating the release of the album on Feb 10th at Empty Bottle.
Stephen Paul Smoker @ Subt

Today Kilo Records dropped the first single from Stephen Paul Smoker’s upcoming album Ripe Fruit. The album will be released on March 20th. The track is called "Green City" and is a perfect example of the wild that Ripe Fruit is shaping up to be.

Mike Golden and Friends @ Panchos
Mike Golden & Friends released a full-length album back in December called Groceries. The album is a diverse effort that mixes dance rock, blues, and even has a ukulele ballad. You can tell the band is having fun every step of the way..

Disappears Pre Language
Disappears have unveiled the details of their next album. It will be called Pre Language and will be released on March 1st through Chicago’s Kranky Records. The album will feature 9 new tracks including "Replicate" below.
Damon J Carruesco and Jonathan Van Herik of Disappears also have a side project called E+ which you can catch at Beat Kitchen on Jan. 18th and again at Schubas on Feb. 1st.
A Double Dose of Daytrotter

This week two very different Chicago bands have appeared over a Daytrotter. On the 9th they posted their session with Pillars & Tongues. It was the band’s third appearance and first since releasing their 2011 album The Pass and Crossing.
The other session was with The Smith Westerns making their first Daytrotter appearance, and performing tracks from their early 2011 release Dye It Blonde.
Company of Thieves “Gorgeous/Grotesque” on Audiotree
Audiotree has posted a video from Company of Thieves performance for them back in August. The video is for the track "Gorgeous/Grotesque" which appears on the band’s 2011 release Running From A Gamble.
