Al Scorch “Tired Ghostly Town”

Al Scorch and his backing band, The Country Soul Ensemble, return with Tired Ghostly Town on May 21st. The band includes the talented former member of Elf Power and several Elephant 6 bands, Laura Carter on Clarinet. In the band you will find fiddles, organs, trumpets, accordions, suitcases, and so many more instruments. Al Scorch is known for his big time banjo playing, fast-paced and jubilant anthems, and the stories he tells in song.

Tired Ghostly Town will be released by Plan-It-X South on May 21st. Check out "Working Dream" from the album below.

New Krewella Remix

It doesn’t get much bigger these days than the flaming hot trio of Jahan Yousaf, Yasmine Yousaf, and Rain Man (aka Kris Trindl) known as Krewella. Last month they joined the AM Only stable with Skrillex, Tiesto, 12th Planet and others and tore up several showcases at SXSW.

Krewella released a new remix this week of the Knife Party track "Fire Hive".

Interview With Mutts

Mutts is gearing up for a big year that includes the release of a double LP this summer. Their year began by being named The Deli’s emerging artist of the 2011, and this Thursday, April 12th, they will be headlining our showcase at The Beat Kitchen. Recently Mike Maimome, Bob Buckstaff, & Chris Pagnani were kind enough to answer a few of my questions. You can read my interview with the band here.

If you thought the Smith Westerns were a you should take a second look at the press photo for High Street. With an average age of 13 it is surprising that the band has been together for four years now. The band just released their second ep, Nocturnal and play a surprisingly polished brand of power pop and blues.

With a career dating back to the mid ’90’s Conn is always bringing something distinctive, flashy, and aggressive. His latest album, Macaroni, drops on May 1st and it blends style after style while addressing issues of greed, war, growing up in the 80’s and politics.
