Roll Call Records just released (3 hours ago) released a new remix of "Ghosts" from the upcoming debut from On An On. The remix by local producer Kid Color (aka Kyle Woods) and is the "Kid Color’s Morning Run Dub Mix". Before you hit the pavement for your morning run tomorrow download this great track.
As we have mentioned before, On An On’s debut album "Give In" will be released by Roll Call Records on Jan. 29th.
The local label Forge Again Records announced last week that they will be releasing the new double LP, Silk Prison, from Tight Phantomz. The album will be released on November 20th, but Part 1 can be streamed below now, and Part 2 can be found here.
The video below is for one of the albums standout tracks, "Waiting For" and was directed by Brendan Leonard.
Tight Phantomz will be celebrating the release of Silk Prison on Nov. 21st at Empty Bottle with Bloodiest and E+.
Electro pop duo, Shuteye, is gearing up for the release of their debut album, “Hush Hush”, set to drop November 27. The duo has released several tracks for the album through 2012 including their single "Heart and Stone" back in February. One of my favorite tracks from the new album is "Sun Night Sky" which they released via the video below last month.
Shuteye are performing a Halloween set, Saturday Oct. 27th at Revengers Halloween Party.
There is something about crisp autumn air and acoustic folk tunes. Marie Hahn recently released her first ep, The Place Were Things Don’t Change, and it simple, honest, and a nice little discovery. Hahn’s note on her bandcamp page is "I’ve just finished this EP, and have worked quite hard on it, so please give it a listen", and so I did and enjoyed what I heard. The presentation is a little raw, but her voice is beautiful and her writing is heartfelt.
Marie Hahn’s is available for download for whatever you think is fair and you can catch at Tonic Room on November 6th.
Moon Furies have relocated to Brooklyn, but they can still feel the Chicago love. The trio is releasing a new single, "La Cabeza" on October 30th. This is the band’s follow-up their ep Not Earth which was released over the summer.
At it’s core, Health&Beauty is the work of Brian J Sulpizio and Berijamin Boyle. The band has been together since 2004 and have spent a lot of time perfecting the specific styles and sounds covered on their epic new album Wintermagic. The album was released by Perilous Records late last month and it is as epic as an wight track release can be.
You can catch Health&Beauty at Cole’s on Oct. 28th.
Cody DeCamry released his free LP, Blazed, through City of Win a few months ago, but recently dropped the cool Christian Jackson directed video below.
Wild Belle has released a video for their track "Backslider". The track comes from their forthcoming LP Isles which is slated for a 2013 release on Columbia Records.
Wild Belle is touring all over North America this fall and will be performing at Metro on December 9th with Of Montreal.
Last week the local label Cardboard Sangria released the first single from the new project by Gary Pyskacek from The Part Five, Poor Lister. Pyskacek is currently working on an ep for Poor Lister and the band will make their stage debut on Dec. 10th at Hungry Brain with The Singleman Affair.
The Vliets have released the second video from their new ep God’s Drug. The band released the ep late last month and have been receiving a lot of well deserved praise. Ty Bohrnstedt is the driving force behind this Dallas band now splitting time between Dallas and Chicago. I haven’t seen any local shows scheduled but I am excited to see the synth driven psych-pop band take the stage.
Check out the detailed production on this new track, "88" from Brooklyn’s Haleek Maul by Chicago duo The-Drum. The track comes from his Oxyconteen EP which was released this past June for free at Merok Records.
