The Wild Family is an up and coming folk rock group who released a live ep earlier this year. I was captivated by their recent live video recorded at The Comfort Station.

The Orwells released a new single, "Who Needs You", and video this week.

Chuck Inglish “Swervin”
Chuck Inglish shows that there is still chemistry between him and Cool Kids partner Sir Michael Rocks on the first single from Inglish’s solo debut Convertibles. The album is set to be released this Fall on his own imprint Sounds Like Fun, and will feature contribution from Mac Miller, Big Boi, Ab-Soul, and others.
The Handsome Family “Octopus”
The Handsome Family have released a video for their track "Octopus" which appears on their latest release Wilderness.
Tandem Shop Turns 5!
Sam McAllister and Megan Frestedt are the team behind the local label Tandem Shop and over the last five year he has given an opportunity to a handful of local bands. From The Oarsmen to Many Places, Tandem Shop has steadily built a reputation for quality in the local scene and across the country.
On August 15th the label will celebrate its 5 year anniversary with a shop at Lincoln Hall featuring Project Film, The Oarsmen, Many Places, Marko Casso, Stephen Mulcahy, and the label’s first signee Mr. Bear (now LA-based).
Oshwa “Chamomile Crush”
The debut album from Oshwa, Chamomile Crush, will be released by Naked Ally Records on Aug. 8th. The label has released the first single from the album, "Baraboo".

Pillars & Tongues “Knifelike”
Earlier this month we announced that Pillars & Tongues would be releasing their new album, End-Dances (Empty Cellar Records), on Sept. 17th and shared the video for their track "Dogs".
Now we have the a new track from the album, "Knifelike".
Pillars & Tongues will be performing at The Chicago Cultural Center on Sept. 20th and at The Burlington on Oct. 12th.
Tree “Devotion (Get It)” Live @ Pitchfork Music Fest
Local emcee Tree rock the stage Pitchfork last weekend. The hometown crowd was eager to cheer on of their own. "Devotion (Get It)" appears on Tree’s recent mixtape Sunday School II.
White Mystery “Break A Sweat” Tour
White Mystery launch a new tour tomorrow night in Michigan that will take them to Canada, New York, Philly, Detroit, and will wrap up here in Chicago for Riot Fest. The Break A Sweat Tour pulls its name from the song of the same name from the band’s 2013 release Telepathic.
To launch the tour the duo released the video for "Break A Sweat" below.
Ezra Furman and Bar/None
Bar/None Records recently reissued Ezra Furman’s solo debut album, The Year of No Returning, and announced plans to release his next album, Day of the Dog, this Fall. To promote the releases Furman recorded a cover of Wilco’s "Heavy Metal Drummer" for A.V. Club.
Into It. Over It. New Album
Evan Weiss (aka Into It. Over It.) announced this week that his new album, Intersections, will be released by Triple Crown Records in Sept. 24th. Just like all of Weiss’ album this is a very personal project. It began by looking different intersections in Chicago, but quickly became more about the intersections in Weiss’ own life. Below is a video preview for the album.
Weiss will be touring this fall with Saves The Day.
Evasive Backflip @ Quencher’s
The experimental jazz-punk trio Evasive Backflip have released their debut ep, and are working on a full-length. The trio mixes garage rock with a funk and jazz mentality that is truly unique.
