Charlie Otto

Posted on:

Charlie Otto (of DJnoDJ and Nasty Buoy) is preparing to release his latest album, Things to Throw Off a Cliff, on December 8th via Grood Music. The album’s first single is called “Help”, and is a Electro-Pop gem. It sounds to our ears as if Sufjan Stevens hired Ratatat as a backing band. We believe there is video for “Help” coming on the 30th and we can’t wait.

You can catch Charlie Otto playing this album acoustically at Fitzgerald’s on November 23rd.

Drew Hansen “Stone Forest/Sun Shower”

Posted on:

Trumpeter Drew Hansen released his debut album, Stone Forest/Sun Shower, last week via Bace Records. Hansen blends free jazz, folk music, poetry and more throughout this breathtaking debut. On this project he is accompanied by Artie Black (tenor sax and bass clarinet), Dustin Laurenzi (tenor sax), Katie Ernst (voice and bass), Sam Hasting (guitar), Mike Harmon (bass), Matt Carroll (drums), and John O’Connor (voice and haiku).

The album really needs to be experienced as a whole, but the two title tracks are distinct representations of the sound and style Hansen imagined. Flowing from strummed guitar, to trumpet, to the lush vocals for Katie Ernst, these tracks go way beyond jazz.
