Mom Dog

Mom Dog, not to be confused with Deli fav Dog Mom, is the new project from the young multi-instrumentalist Kenton Kiser. He recently released his self-tiled debut album which features a contribution from Saint Bahr on "Michagain".

The album is an impressive debut blending lo-fi bedroom recordings with more polished indie rock elements.

Super Thing “Jimbo’s World”

Super Thing has released the intense first single, “Jimbo’s World”, from their forthcoming album, No Rest. This is the Noise Rock trio’s first new music since their self-titled debut album back in 2016. The track is five minutes of insanity filled bombing bass lines and solos, raging guitars, and an opening drum beat that will get you moving.

Super Thing is the trio of Zach Lockwood (Bass/Vocals), Julian Lesse (Drums), and Peter Norman (Guitar).

Video Premiere: Maren Celest “Nightshade”

We are proud to be able to premiere the new single and video for “Nightshade” from Maren Celest. This track is taken from her debut solo LP, I Saw The Sun, which will be released on April 19th via Candor Arts.

“Nightshade” is the second single, following “Petrichor”, from the new album, and it is darkly haunting sonically, visually and lyrically. This is a Psych Folk element to Maren’s music that gives it a slightly mystical feeling as well. She is also an accomplished photographer and the a collection of her images will accompany the vinyl release of the album.

High Priest “Sanctum EP”

Metal band High Priest has announced a new EP called “Sanctum” set for release on April 19th via Magnetic Eye. This is the band’s first album since the release of their debut, Consecration, back in 2016. Which you can stream below to build excitement for the new EP.

This is the work of guitarists Pete Grossmann and John Regan, singer/bassist Justin Pence and drummer Dan Polak.

You can help the band celebrate the release of the album on April 20th at Burlington Bar with Huntsmen, Goops Ghost, and Snow Burial.

Rhone “A Pause In Your House”

Instrumental Rock band Rhone has released a new single called “A Pause In Your House” from their forthcoming album, Leaving State. This is the band’s first release since singing with the Indianapolis label POST. Recordings.

Rhone is the atmospheric rock of Ken Bonner (guitar), Nicholas Will (guitar), Jeff Ulbrich (bass), and Jake Ennis (drums)

La Cosa

The experimental collective La Cosa have released the recording of their recent live show at Observatory. It is not the best quality recording, but it does give the listener a taste of where this wildly inventive band is hovering.

They are hard to classify, but land somewhere between Post-Rock, Psych Rock, Jazz, and Noise. Back in December they released a track called “Trip’s over, man” which might give a clearer sense of just wild and creative this group is.

Hardcore Speed Punk band Death of Self have released a new album called Look Elsewhere. This is the work of Nick Feltes (Guitar/Vocals), Jeffrey Finnegan (Guitar), Joe Ott (Drums/Backing Vocals), and Wade Hall (Bass/Backing Vocals).

The band recently returned from SXSW where they have performed each of the last four years.

Ric Wilson “Yellowbrick”

Ric Wilson relesaed a new single this week called “Yellowbrick” b/w “Dan Ryan Traffic”. This is Wilson’s second single since the release of his 2018 EP "BANBA".

“Yellowbrick” features contributions from Australia’s Jia Lih and local trumpeter Sam Veren and is a jazzy torch song.

Wilson was just one of the several talented Chicago musicians on the recently announced Pitchfork Music Festival 2019 line-up coming to Union Park this July. He was scheduled to perform at Bottom Lounge on April 13th, but that show has been postponed with no rescheduled date as of yet.

Wild Belle @ Metro (4/21)

Wild Belle released their latest album, Everybody One of a Kind, today, March 22nd. This is Pop and Reggae sound of brother and sister duo of Natalie and Elliot Bergman. They were born here and got their start here, but are now LA-Based.

The latest single from the LP is called “Have You Both” and is accompanied by an animated video that Natalie created herself.

Wild Belle will be returning home for a show at Metro on April 21st, and on July 31st at Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island opening for Beck, Spoon, and Cage the Elephant.
