Four Letter Words “Pinch Point”

Four Letter Words is the improvised jazz trio of three Chicago transplants Jake Wark (tenor saxophone); Matt Piet (piano); and Bill Harris (drums). The is preparing to release their third album, “Pinch Point”, on April 13th via Harris’ label Amalgam.

CAVE Psychic Summer Reissue

CAVE has released the first single, “Made in Malaysia”, from the forthcoming reissue of 2009’s, Psychic Summer, which is due out April 26th via Drag City. This will mark the first time the album will be widely released and available through Drag City, and will celebrate the album’s 10 year anniversary.

Cave is currently touring Spain and will spend the Spring in Spain, Portugal, Netherland, France, and Belgium.

Vesper @ Empty Bottle (4/16)

Vesper is the Synth Pop duo of producer Zak Fox Jablow and vocalist Samantha Humphreys. They recently released a new single “Elastic” from their forthcoming debut full-length LP, Years. The album is due out on April 20th via Shuga Records.

The duo had previously release the LP’s first single “Sway” and both tracks are beautiful examples of how they blend Synth Pop, Dance Music, and more into a fierce and inventive sound.

Macie Stewart & Lia Kohl

Astral Editions will be releasing an EP, “Pocket Full of Bees”, from multi-instrumentalist and Composer Macie Stewart (formerly of Marrow) and Cellist and multidisciplinary artist Lia Kohl of ZRL and Mocrep on April 5th. The duo were recorded live at Experimental Sound Studio last June.

Below you can hear the EP’s closing track, “There’s Something In My Sock (It’s Good Good)” and watch a video released by Experimental Sound of the duo performing an excerpt from this recording.

Screenwriter

Screenwriter is the moniker of electronic music producer Corey Hill. It has been three years, and the release of his EP “Bather”, since we’ve seen new music from Screenwriter.

Hill recently announced that a new single called “Miriam” dropping April 19th and leading to his debut full-length later this year.

YAWN “Wereworlf”

YAWN returned to the stage last month for a surprise show free show at Empty Bottle, and earlier this month the trio released their first new music, a single called “Werewolf”, since 2015’s Day Trip EP.

The trio, lead by Adam Gil, have been in the studio working on new music and it is clear that this is just first of what is to come.

YAWN will be performing at Berlin NYC on April 3rd with The Gloomies, Spooky and The Bear, and Suncelebs.

Primitive Teeth

Dan Vapid & The Cheats recently released their third full-length album, Three, via Eccentric Pop Records. This is the Punk band’s first album in six years, but the group has not missed a beat.

This is the work of Dan "Vapid" Schafer (guitars/vocals), Simon Lamb (guitars/vocals), Dillon Dunnagan (bass/vocals) and Gabe Usery (Drums/Vocals).

Dying In Designer “PTSD”

South Side Emo rapper Dying In Designer (aka Bobby O’Brien) has released a new single and video called “PTSD” via Hopeless Records. The track features production from Nick Mira and the video was created by Alex Zarek.

As with his previous releases, this song follows O’Brien into the darkest corner of his pain and depression. Mental Health is a huge topic of concern , especially this week, and O’Brien is bravely facing and expressing his struggles. It is our hope, as his, that this approach helps those struggling with the same issues.
