Seeing as we are still in the single digits of 2015, it seems appropriate to focus on some brand new local talent. Braintapes released this single along with the announcement of an upcoming EP back in December. "Sophia" drifts on some definite jazz stylings, but there’s enough post-everything angst to keep it anchored and focused. It’s an interesting listen (and we’re sure there are some music theory manipulations that are escaping our comprehension,) and we’re looking forward to hearing how the rest of the EP turns out. This Braintape’s first single, and to drive home how fresh they are, the band are still virgins to a Nashville stage. That’s all going to change on January 8th, when they play their first show in town at The End, along with The Hart Strings, Devin Dawson and Jake Vroom.
