Distorted sporadic guitars and a plethora of obscure synths define Rayon Beach’s distinct sound. Pioneered by Thomas Sutherland and Mike Naccarato, Rayon Beach emulates a smart, energized garage rock sound with undertones of psychedelic punk. The band has occupied the Austin music scene for some time since their debut in 2009 with their release of the lo-fi production album, Styrofoam Drone, in 2011. The trio plans to release a full-length album in April 2012 and is set to play at SXSW at Headhunters on March 13. If you catch their set, be prepared to thrash your body to the beat of the nostalgic sounds of clamoring punk in the late 70’s. – Alejandra Ramirez
