From Our Open Blog: Pretty Good Dance Moves

Upon the groups initial inception in 2006, Pretty Good Dance Moves, alias of Jimmy Giannapoulos and Aaron Allieta, has since taken over New York City’s dance scene by storm. Now not only has the duo just released their first full-length album Limo on February 7, 2012, they will also embark on a Midwestern tour in support of the new record.

The two week long trek will kick off on February 15th in Marquette, MI at the Upfront and Company, circle west, and wrap up on February 26th in Cincinnati, OH at the MOTR Pub. Elijah Holden “33 Spokes”

Elijah Holden has released a new project called 33 Spokes. The ep is an exploration is sound, thought, and human consciousness. I know that sounds far reaching, and perhaps it is, but the resulting collection of tracks really delivers. Holden uses conversations, voices, speaking in tongues, and other forms of spoken sound to explore the complexities of man. The project was funded by a City of Chicago CAAP grant. Elijah also plays in the band Conductive Alliance.

Campfires ‘Slaughter Tropes”

Campfires (aka Jeff Walls) has released a new album/tapes via the local label Priority Male. The first track for the album is a fuzzed-out and wacky pop tune in clear tribute to the Beatles called "Melted Rubber Soul.

Margot and The Nuclear So and So’s

Now based in Chicago, Richard Edwards and his band Margot and The Nuclear So and So’s recorded their upcoming and fourth LP, Rot Gut, Domestic over the summer at Electric Audio Studio with John Colgleton. The album was written by Edwards while spending 26 days in Pismo Beach, CA last spring. Rot Gut, Domestic will be released on March 20th through the band’s own label Mariel Recording Company. The first single from the album is called "Prozac Rock" and the animated video directed by Dom Bloink can be viewed below.

Archie Powell and The Exports

Archie Powell & The Exports are planning to release their latest LP, Great Ideas In Action, on May 1st. The band has leaked the first single for the new album, "Metronome", and it is a great example of what this band can do. "Metronome" takes the mundane day to day of life and applies fuzzed out jangle pop and manages to make you smile.

Archie Powell & The Exports will be performing at Township (2200 N. California) on March 3rd with Rodeo Ruby Love and Noise FM.

Magic City @ The Burlington Bar

Magic City released their free digital ep "Little Bits" back in November via Feel Trip Records. The band is lead back the charming yet powerful vocals and majestic guitar play of Lauren Whitacre.

You can catch Magic City with Bigcolour and The Sueves on Saturday, Feb 18th at The Burlington Bar. The band will also be performing at Double Door on March 1st.

Joan of Arc Present Joan of Arc

What do you get when you mix a silent French film and veteran rockers Joan of Arc? You get the new release coming in April from Joyful Noise. On opening night of the 2011 Chicago International Movies and Music Festival, Joan of Arc performed and recorded a complete soundtrack for the 1928 silent film "The Passion of Joan of Arc".

The recording will be released exclusively of vinyl in three different editions and 175 in each, hand-numbered white vinyl, hand-numbered black and white split colored vinyl, and hand-numbered blood red vinyl. You can preorder yours today.
