Hopefully everyone knows that Pitchfork is hosting their annual music festival at Union Park this weekend. The promoters have out done themselves and put together a stellar line-up. The Chicago-centric highlights are of course Willis Earl Beal and A Lull, but if you are among the many not able to attend the fest the after shows are where it’s at.

Through out the weekend local clubs will be hosting Pitchfork acts. Empty Bottle has Lower Dens, Ty Segall, and Hot Chip (Dj Set). Schubas has Purity Ring, A Lull, Dirty Beaches and Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Reggie’s has The Olivia Tremor Control.

Check your favorite venue and check some quality music this weekend.

Serengeti released a new video this week for the track "Amnesia" from his tremendous new LP C.A.R. which will be released on July 31st through Anticon.

Serengeti will be opening for Hannibal Buress Friday, July 13th with Rockie Fresh and Kyle Kinane at Lincoln Hall.

Volcanoes Make Islands recently released the first single from the upcoming debut LP, "Time To Run", and now they have appeared on the very cool local web series Backstage Chicago. Big things to come from Henry Bianco, Brad Sawicki, Alan Takaoka, and Todd Hill.

We announced awhile ago that California Wives was preparing their next full-length album for an early spring release. We now have a few more details and the first single "Marianne". The album will be called Art History and will be released on September 4th through Vagrant Records. The full tracklist is below.

California Wives will be heading out on a national tour in support of Art History this Fall.

Wooden Rings don’t try to disguise or be coy about their sound. They play acoustic chamber pop and they play it well. The quartet released a self-titled album last month, and recently performed for Lightbox Sessions.

You can catch Wooden Rings with Wells-next-to-the-sea and Cottage Jefferson at The Burlington on July 26th.

Betta Promotions is hosting one of the better and most cost effective music festivals of the summer tomorrow at The Orphanage. Bettafest takes place in one full day, tomorrow July 7th. Here is the full line-up.

It has been awhile since we’ve heard from Conductive Alliance, but they have been busy working on new track for an album that will be released this Fall. The band performed one the tracks, "Orbit", last Fall for Northwestern Radio’s Airplay show.

You can catch Conductive Alliance playing a mix of old and new this Friday, July 6th at Morseland.

How To Dress Well (aka Tom Krell) has announced the details of his upcoming album Total Loss. The album will include the recently released single "Ocean Floor for Everything" that we wrote about several weeks ago. The album will be released on September 18th via Acephale, and can be preordered here.

Earlier this month Krell released a very cool mixtape that includes everything from cfcf to Asap Rocky to Janet Jackson.

The Giving Tree Band have launched a preorder sale for their upcoming fourth album, Vacilador. The album will be officially released this Fall, but if your preorder today you will get a digital download immediately. In addition to that, 5% of the money raised in this preorder will be donated to the non-profit Hand In Hand USA.

The Giving Tree Band will be performing tomorrow night, June 29th at Double Door with Joe Prudy.

Hollows are currently on a huge 21 days tour, but before they left they released their new video for "Golden Chain". The track comes from their latest album, Vulture, which was released by the local label Trouble In Mind back in April.
