The duo Super Hairy (aka Jonny Swift and Zack Tomlinson) have released their second ep, Groomed. The ep is available for free download. Super Hairy creates the best kind of dark electro-pop. In case you missed their set at Double Door back on the 12th you can still watch it here.
Wild Belle “It’s Too Late”
Recent addition to the Columbia Records stable, Wild Belle has released a new single called "It’s Too Late". The single also features the b-side "Backslider".
"It’s Too Late" follows in the footsteps of "Keep You" with it’s tropical tendencies. Both singles will be included on the duo’s forthcoming debut LP Isles.
Brighton, MA “Touch”
Earlier this month Brighton, MA released the first single off of their forthcoming album Oh Lost. The single is called "Touch" and they recently released a very cool video.

Chicago Stone Lightning Band
Downtown Records released the debut album from Chicago Stone Lightning Band this week. The band plays an exciting brand of blues and rock. With a band perform a vintage style of rock the recording process has to match, and Zach Goheen nailed it. The album was recorded straight to analog tape on a vintage desk live with very little overdubbing and effects.
Rockie Fresh “You A Lie”
Rockie Fresh released his new video for the track "You A Lie" which features Rick Ross. The track comes from his recent mixtape "Drive 88". He is working on a new mixtape coming in October called "Electric Highway".

From Our Open Blog: Randi Russo + Ty Maxon at Uncommon Ground on Clark
Recent Chicago transplant from Brooklyn, singer-songwriter Randi Russo will rock it solo at Uncommon Ground (Clark St. location) on Friday, September 21st. The Village Voice has described her guitar-playing as, "sweet when it needs to be, but nasty in all the right places," and she’s been know to dish out some "honest and provocative lyrics" (The Big Takeover). RIYL: PJ Harvey, Patti Smith and VU/Lou Reed. Sharing the bill with her will be Ty Maxon, whose music is a cross between Jose Gonzalez, Nick Drake, and Paul Simon. Go to Tyson’s bandcamp and Randi’s bandcamp to listen to their music. Show starts at 10pm. $7 cover.
The Giving Tree Band on Daytrotter
Daytrotter released their session with The Giving Tree Band today. The band performed five tracks including the new track "Brown Eyed Women" from their forthcoming LP Vacilador.
The band will be releasing Vacilador on October 2nd and performing at House of Blues with Old Shoe and The Ragbirds on Oct. 4th.
Gypsyblood “Endless Summer”
Gypsyblood has released a video for the track "Endless Summer" from their album Cold in the Guestway (Sargent House).
Gypsyblood is currently on an east coast tour and do not have any local dates planned.
Angel Olsen “Half Way Home”
Does an 8.0 on Pitchfork still mean what it meant say 7 years ago? It might not, but when it comes to the new album from Angel Olsen they could not have been more accurate. Half Way Home is powerful and gentle, folky and operatic, simple and complex, it is possibly one of the top releases by a Chicago musician in 2012. Olsen sings with a bubbling passion that she is constantly struggling to contain. There are moments where it spills out and those moments are thrilling.
Half Way Home was released by Bathetic Records on Sept. 4th and you can catch Olsen at Schubas on Oct. 6th with Dark Dark Dark.
Psalm One “Child Support”
The new album from Psalm One is unique and surprisingly uplifting. Child Support, dropping Sept 25th, is a collaboration with ASCAP and America SCORES Students. To create the able she went to nine cities, nine different schools, and worked with 226 kids. All of the proceeds from the project will benefit ASCAP Songwriter Residency at America SCORES. The album also features a collaboration with Mikkey Halsted (The Cool Kids). The second single from the album, "I Believe In Me", is the perfect example of the motivation behind this project.
Magic Milk “Girls”
Magic Milk has released a new single called "Girls". The track almost defies classification, but this group continues to make fascinating lo-fi basement pop.

Gel Set @ Reversible Eye
Gel Set is the work of Laura Callier and under this moniker she creates wonderfully dark and lush electronic dance-pop. Earlier this summer she released a limited edition cassette through the local label Modern Tapes called Cell Jets.
