Stefanie Berecz and The Right Now released a new single today and it is a funky and jazzy cover of the Stephen Stills classic, “For What It’s Worth”. I can’t think of a better song cover with all that is going on in the world today. This is the band’s first release since their 2017 LP, Starlight.
You can catch The Right Now at Sleeping Village on September 21st with Lowdown Brass Band.
DJ Scandalous released a new single, “Move On”, today. This song is an honest look at a recent break-up he had, and is structured in a different format then what Scandalous typically works in.
When asked he had this to say about the track, "The track is a true story about my ex. I put it in a pop/edm form because I like how it’s structured. However, I don’t live in that house. I visit others”.
There is a video for “Move On” coming out on August 10th.
Earlier this month the Pop Punk trio Parker released their debut EP, “Never Growing Old”. The band had put out the EP’s lead single and title track back in June, but have now released all four songs on the EP. Parker is the work of brother Devin (vocalist/guitarist) and Patrick Parker (vocalist/bassist) with Trevor Phelps on drums.
You can catch Parker on August 10th at Royal Stake & Apparel in Lansing with Lost Years, The Hallow, and Comatoast.
Miracle Condition has returned from a four year hiatus and released their first album, III, since 2010. This is fuzzy Psych Rock of Mark Shippy and Pat Samson (formerly of U.S. Maple) with Matt Carson. The album was actually recorded back in 2012 at Electrical Audio Studio.
It is unclear why it took six years to release this album, but we are really glad it is in our ears right now.
The-Drum (Jeremiah Meece and Brandon Higgenbotham) suddenly returned from a four year hiatus earlier this month with a “new” EP called “ Aura Bath”. It’s a collection of tracks they’ve aging throughout their hiatus, but sound just as fresh and relevant today.
Now they have dropped their fifth mixtape, “The Transformation of Things”. It is so great to have The-Drum back!
How To Dress Well (aka Tom Krell) announced a world tour yesterday that includes a hometown show on November 20th at Sleeping Village.
Krell released a new split single late last month called “Land of the Overflowing Urn” b/w “The Anteroom”. His last full-length album, Care, was released in 2016.
Thair, lead singer of Astro Samuri, released his debut EP, “Summer Luhh”, earlier this month. This project is a collection of dance and pop songs Thair has created to document experience as a queer person of color. The EP has moments of pride and joy and moments of fear and sadness, and it both an entertaining and important listen.
Impulsive Hearts released a new single, “Fool”, last week. The song has really evolved since the demo version they released back in 2016, and is their first release since that collection of demos and live recordings.
Impulsive Hearts is the work of Danielle Sines, Dan Julian, Jess remaster, and Doug Hoyer.
You can catch Impulsive Hearts at Empty Bottle on July 26th (tomorrow!) with Mutts and Jesse W. Johnson as part of a benefit concert for Traffick Free.
