The Garage Rock duo of George Coutretsis and Ryan Quilty (aka Furr) released their sophomore EP, “Jail”, last week. This is the first new music from the duo since 2016, and thy are promising that their full-length debut is also on the horizon.
Sport Boyfriend “Crying In July”
Sports Boyfriends (aka Eileen Peltier) released a new single called “Crying in July” last week. This is her second single of 2019, and is 3 minutes of funky, chilled, Pop. Both this track and January’s “Fear of God” are taken from Eileen’s forthcoming EP.
Video Premiere: She Rides Tigers “Scars of Allegory”
We are proud to be able to premiere the video for the latest single, “Scars of Allegory”, from the Psych Rock trio She Rides Tigers. The track is taken from their latest album, Scars, which was released last week.
This is the work of Joe O’Leary (Guitar, Vocals), James Scott (Bass, Vocals), and Ryan Birkett (Drums).

Impulsive Hearts @ Co-Prosperity Sphere (5/17)
Impulsive Hearts is primarily the work of the Danielle Sines along with Doug Hoyer, Jess LeMaster, and Dan Julian. Last month the group released an EP called “metoo: a benefit for Resilience” with all proceeds from the project going to Resilience, an local organization providing crisis intervention for sexual assault victims.
You can catch Impulsive Hearts at Co-Prosperity Sphere on May 17th with Town Criers, Sugarpulp, and LATE as part of a benefit show for RefugeeOne.
Stander “The Slow Bark”
Experimental Metal trio Stander has released the first single, “At Arm’s Length”, from their forthcoming coming debut album, The Slow Bark, which is due out May 10th.
Stander is the work of Mike Boyd (guitars, piano, samples), Derek Shlepr (bass), and Stephen Waller (drums).
You can catch Stander at Empty Bottle on May 1st with Mako Sica and Imelda Marcos. They will also be performing at Sleeping Village on May 25th with Bloodymind, Aseethe, and Ikaray.
Serena Isioma “Mystery Boy”
Serena Isioma has released new song called “Mystery Boy” which features Yung Water. This is the second single from this talented 18 year old, following up last month’s debut “Breathe”.
Serena has a powerful voice and an ear for smooth, downbeat production. This latest single was produced by Kofi Bae and just dropped yesterday.
Thomas Comerford Blood Moon Tour
It has been nearly a year since local troubadour Thomas Comerford released his latest album, Blood Moon. The album took his brand of Americana to whole new level, and this week he announced that he will be touring for the album later this Spring to celebrate its one year anniversary.

Patrick Burnell “Day of Reckoning”
Guitarist, and all around renaissance man, Patrick Burnell has released his debut album called Day of Reckoning via Ezz-thetic Records and Metric Coffee.
The album is a meditative mix of flamenco and classical guitar playing that takes the listener on journey and tells an adventurous story without a single spoken word.
Jordan Reyes “Close”
Jordan Reyes has released the first single, “Quicksand”, from his forthcoming album, Close. The album is set to be released via his label American Dream in June 14th and will be available in vinyl with a very cool limited JJ Cormer print.
This is music that Reyes has made on the modular synthesizer and, from the sound of “Quicksand”, it is beautiful, haunting, and introspective.
Sick Gazelle “Odum”
Experimental Jazz Trio Sick Gazelle recently released the lead single, “Atlantic”, from their forthcoming debut album, Odum. The album is set to be released via War Crime Recordings on May 3rd, and was fully improvised as good Chicago jazz should be.
Sick Gazelle is the work of long time Chicago musicians and friends Eric Block (Saturna) and Bruce Lamont (Yakuza) with legendary drummer (Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth, Sun Kil Moon)
Acquaintances “And It Went Black”
Supergroup Acquaintances recently released the first single, “And It Went Black”, from their forthcoming sophomore album, 8 1/2 Lives, which is due out May 31st via the local label File 13. This is the first new music we have had from the five member rock group since 2013.
This is the work of Jered Gummere: Guitar, Vocals (The Ponys, Bare Mutants), Patrick Morris: Bass (Don Caballero, The Poison Arrows,), Stephen Schmidt: Guitar, Vocals (Thumbnail, Chino Horde), Justin Sinkovich: Guitar, Organ, Vocals (The Poison Arrows, Atombombpocketknife, Thumbnail), and Chris Wilson: Drums (Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Shake Ray Turbine).
