Timing is everything, or will be tonight, at the Brooklyn Drum Collective’s Open Jam & The Dating Show IRL double-header at OWL

If you happen to be a contestant on Family Feud in the near future and Steve Harvey sidles up in a Men’s Warehouse suit and asks you to “name one thing in life that’s all about timing” you’d be well advised to go with one of the three responses below cuz they’re all pretty self-apparent in our humble opinion or to put it another way SURVEY SAYS:

1) PLAYING DRUMS
2) DOING COMEDY
3) FALLING IN LOVE

…and if you happen be in the vicinity of Bushwick’s Our Wicked Lady tonight (2/6) can drop in and test out the truth of these three choices while also testing out your own timing acumen and the acumen of others cuz downstairs OWL’s got the Brooklyn Drum Collective hosting their thrice-monthly “open jam” which takes place the first three Tuesdays of each month and isn’t just for drummers either but also instrumentalists and vocalists and tambourine shakers and mere witnesses of all stripes led by the always busy with about 20 projects yet somehow super chill and consummately professional drummer-about-town and BDC leader Carlo Minchillo

…whilst running concurrently upstairs there’ll be the second installment of Dhe Dating Show IRL which is a non-virtual Dating Game like game show hosted by the local underground scene’s two most talented (determined by popular consensus) musician-cum-comedians-cum-karaoke-’n’-game-show-hosts Papi Shiitake & Charmaine the latter of whom also happens to play drums in the hard rockin’ party band known as Nevva that is when not fronting her own indie-rockified tribute to Britney Spears called It’s Britney, Bitch and talk about one of the most notorious and storied dating lives of the past 25 years it’s Britney’s, bitch, so yeah we’re talkin’ full circle on multiple levels here…

…but hey that’s what happens when you got impeccable timing and if your timing’s right tonight you can sign up early to play downstairs and vamp your way thru a couple numbers with the rotating band of musicians which typically includes a good number of regulars but also plenty of newbies too and then bounce upstairs to answer a couple questions in clever enough fashion to score yourself a dating partner just in time for Valentine’s then go back downstairs and hatch plans to start a brand new band with a selection of the musicians you met earlier and voilá you just got yourself a brand new life

…but why take our word for it when you got all the testimonials and music videos below to prove our point and assure that you’re sure to get your money’s worth or actually more than your money’s worth seeing as the Dating Show IRL is a mere five bucks and the BDC open jam is free so don’t sleep on either cuz the timing’s right and tonight could be your lucky night
