CSLSX Opens for John Maus & St. Lucia at JB’s Oct. 4

Electro collective CSLSX is too good, and really needs to play out more. But then again, they’ve already built a nice little web buzz by keeping things mysterious. Luckily, they’re local so we are treated to momentary glimpses of them live. When I caught them last time at Johnny Brenda’s, they were a five-piece with a female vocalist, drummer, and three pretty tall dudes working a variety of instruments which even included an accordion. However, don’t expect any “Weird Al” Yankovic jams, but I’m sure that they could remix some serious grooves into any of his tunes. Unfortunately, their output is as sparse as their appearances. I’ll leave you with their latest below “Keep on Shining” which was posted a few months ago and spread like wildfire through the internet. You can catch them live tonight at JB’s opening for learned retro oddball John Maus and Brooklyn native (via London via South Africa) St. Lucia. Bring your dancin’ shoes and preferably your favorite 80’s outfit. Johnny Brenda’s, 1201 N. Frankford Ave., 9pm, $10, 21+ (Brandi Lukas) – Q.D. Tran
