Brooklyn folkster The Bones of J.R. Jones plays Mercury Lounge on 05.02
Back in 2012, Brooklyn blues-folk act The Bones of J.R. Jones released the creepy music video for the song “La La Liar” off its ‘The Wildness EP.’ Now, close to the one-year anniversary of its first full-length effort ‘Dark Was the Yearling,’ the one-man band started by central New York-hailing singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist J.R. Linaberry will open for the bruise-voiced singer/songwriter Sean Rowe at Mercury Lounge this Saturday (5.2). As the menacingly poignant, Alan Lomax-inspired “Ticket Home” and the infernal, guitar-panged “Fury of the Light” off the album show, Linaberry tells vivid stories in his songs, ones that blaze to life with his several instruments (banjo, percussion, and loops in addition to the guitar).
