"Man Up" is the second single from Dalton Diehl, aka Young Brother. "Kamakae" is the title of Young Brother’s debut EP, due out June 2nd via Yobro Records. This will be Diehl’s first release since his longtime band, Kansas City-based Christian alternative band Samestate parted ways. The track is fun and upbeat, with a little left-field instrumentation in the mix to keep your ears engaged. This listener can hear a few bits of Diehl’s past musical life filtering into this song, from a soaring pre-chorus swell and an overwhelming sense of positivity (editor’s note: not that there’s anything wring with this.) Check out the track below and learn more about Young Brother at www.youngbrothermusic.com.

The Final Night of the Sugar Candy Mountain Amnesia Residency is TONIGHT
TONIGHT is the last night of the Sugar Candy Mountain Residency at Amnesia! If you’ve been lucky enough to make all of the Tuesday night shows in April, you should be super proud of yourself for supporting a hard working local band! Tonight is a very special night because the former San Francisco based psych folk troubadour, Mark Matos (Trans Van Santos) will be performing on the bill with the uber talented San Francisco band, Luke Sweeney. Ash Reiter (Sugar Candy Mountain), Luke Sweeney and Mark Matos have contributed so much to the Bay Area music scene that it’s going to be a really exciting night of close knit friends and artists.
We got a really cool exclusive quote from Mark Matos:
"I will be bringing out the original Os Beaches line up tonight for the first time in years: Ben from Hi Lo Ha, Jo L from Annie Girl & The flight, Joe M from Lee Gallagher and the Hallelujah plus Annie Girl (Annie Lipetz) are making an appearance with us, which makes it as close to a Family Folk Explosion reunion as it’s going to get for a minute. Looking forward to seeing you!"

Honeysuckle EP Release Show Tomorrow Night @ Out of the Blue Too in Cambridge
“Josephine”, the single from Honeysuckle’s forthcoming debut album, Arrows, is everything that is right with folk and country music. The intro immediately drew me in; there’s something about banjos and mandolins that makes me exceedingly happy, but banjos and mandolins played together–beautiful.
Along with the instrumentation, the lead vocals on this song are powerful, yet smooth, sweet and sorrowful. The band’s generous use of harmonies and backing vocals makes “Josephine” a song worthy of several plays on their Bandcamp.
Honeysuckle will be having their release show for Arrows tomorrow night, April 29, at Out of the Blue Too Art Gallery in Central Sq., Cambridge. For more info about the show, click here.

For those who like their dose of roots music extremely chilled and rather psych, Alex Bleeker and the Freaks are a treasure to behold. They’ll be playing Brooklyn as well, on May 7th at Palisades with EZTV and John Andrews & The Yawns.
