Honduras selected by Blur as support for Friday’s 05.01 show at Rough Trade

Posted on:

Kudos to Brooklyn indie rockers Honduras, who have been hand picked by Blur to open for them at this coming Friday May 1st show at Rough Trade. The band has recently released this new single entitled "Paralyzed" (streaming below) from their upcoming album, which actually sounds a little like a blend of our NJ’s favorite band of all times The Feelies and Blur during their more tense moments – with a punk chorus thrown in to spice things up a little.

We added this song to The Deli’s playlist of Best songs by emerging NYC artists – check it out!

Death By Icon “Wake Up”

Death By Icon released a video today for their track "Wake Up". The video is a montage of vintage TV and movie clips and is at times fun and at times disturbing.

The group also recently released a new single called "Namesake" which features Deer Emerson.

New Music Video: “O Mother” – Son Little

Posted on:

Below is the latest music video from Anti- recording artist Son Little, a.k.a. Aaron Livingston, for the single "O Mother." The song was inspired by the time he spent in Europe away from the U.S. and the harsh reality that overcame him after learning about the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner. We thought that this video/track might be fitting at this time with all the civil unrest in the world. "Can I love the world and hate how it makes me feel? Cuz I don’t wanna kneel. Is there anyone who’s got my back for real?"

Music Video Premiere: Fritz Montana – Call to Arms – To Perform at BottleRock Music Festival

Posted on:

We’re excited to premiere the San Francisco based indie blues rock band, Fritz Montana‘s new music video for their single, Call to Arms. This awesome live music video shows the band’s amazing stage presence and performance abilities. The song is catchy and well produced, and has an evenly blended combination of contemporary indie rock style and vintage blues flavor. Not all "genre-bending" bands can completely pull off a sound in a manner where you don’t have to "try" to get into their art. Call to Arms is believable and enjoyable to listen to.

The best news about the release of this music video is that it is a prelude to two local performances they have coming up including the Napa Valley based BottleRock Music Festival:

May 1st San Francisco, CA @ Fort Mason Center
May 30th Napa, CA @ BottleRock Napa Valley Festival

Make sure you get your tickets to both events and support another awesome, hardworking local independent band!

Throw Vision releases 7″ “Were it Will” + plays C’mon Everybody on June 13

Posted on:

Throw Vision recently released an immaculately produced 7” entitled “Were it Will” on Bandcamp and it’s total bliss through headphones. In “Shake the Hand”, sighing vocals and piano/synth-glitter dominate one ear while darker guitar licks and jazz drums begin in the other and gradually conquer. In “Hello Morning (Sunrise)” we are pulled into a mirror world at the other side of the pool—soulful vocals, surround-scapes, and space-sounds. Mark June 13th on your calendars! These dream rocker brooklynites will be performing at C’mon Everybody in Clinton Hill. – Leora Mandel

Q&A with Brooklyn’s Future Punx about gear and the creative process

Posted on:

Finding inspiration in the dancy, angular post-punk of bands like Devo, the early Stranglers, and even Blondie, Brooklyn’s Future Punx have delivered with "I’m So Inspired" (recent Deli NYC Record of the Month) one of the most fun NYC albums of 2014 . We asked guitarist Jake Pepper a few questions about the band’s creative process, read the Q&A on our sister blog Delicious Audio.

Future Punx next NYC show will be at Baby’s All Right on 05.15.

The Living Sleep Release Remnants

Posted on:

Remants, the latest album from Cambridge/Boston’s The Living Sleep, is one of the most calming, beautiful collections of sounds I’ve heard all year. The tracks that incorporate viola and cello are the most impressive, reminding me of a more modern, less-stuffy version of chamber music–something you’ll actually want to listen to for more than twenty seconds.

The piano melodies are wonderfully arranged throughout the entire record, each played more delicately and deliberately than the last. When accompanied by the strings (ex: “The Last Serenade”), the result is a soothing composition capable of dissolving even the most stressful of days.

Brooklyn folkster The Bones of J.R. Jones plays Mercury Lounge on 05.02

Posted on:

Back in 2012, Brooklyn blues-folk act The Bones of J.R. Jones released the creepy music video for the song “La La Liar” off its ‘The Wildness EP.’ Now, close to the one-year anniversary of its first full-length effort ‘Dark Was the Yearling,’ the one-man band started by central New York-hailing singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist J.R. Linaberry will open for the bruise-voiced singer/songwriter Sean Rowe at Mercury Lounge this Saturday (5.2). As the menacingly poignant, Alan Lomax-inspired “Ticket Home” and the infernal, guitar-panged “Fury of the Light” off the album show, Linaberry tells vivid stories in his songs, ones that blaze to life with his several instruments (banjo, percussion, and loops in addition to the guitar). Watch the music video for “Ticket Home” below. – Zachary Weg

Porcelain Raft announces new EP Half Awake, shares new track “All in my Head”

Posted on:

Italian-born composer Mauro Remiddi first made his mark under his moniker Porcelain Raft with Strange Weekend, quickly becoming one of better known musicians associated with the chillwave scene. A few years have passed and Remiddi is back with his latest single "All in my Head", off his upcoming EP Half Awake, which he’s putting out on his own new label Volcanic Field. The track doesn’t completely discard the dreamy elements of past albums, though this time around there’s an emphasis on minimal synths, which are paired against a metronomic keyboard pulse with the appearance of some guitar distortion just as it begins to ascend into an atmospheric finish.

"All in my Head", which was recorded on his own studio in Highland Park, will be released digitally and as a limited edition cassette tape which comes with a handmade linoleum print made by Remiddi himself. Half Awake is out on June 2nd.
