It looks rather grim and grey as I peer toward the heavens and my mind drifts toward the weekend. However, the tipping point lies in a show this evening at Ortlieb’s. Weekender navigates through the mountaintop fog with fuzz-spiked rock and a calm resolve trampling through the terrain in a manner that echoes of Britpop in a refreshing riff-propelled-floating-vocal-psych-stamped way. The trio of Satellite Hearts tethers an assortment of influential sounds, pulling Justin Pellecchia’s cooing vocals soaked in attitude and meshing it with purposeful guitar licks and a rumbling backend that’s garnered Desire Forces the Flow a frequent rotation spot. Sprinkling in classic R&B, a garage punch, onto a psych-rock scenario, Atlanta’s Gringo Star headline. Ortlieb’s, 847 N. Third St., 9pm, $10, 21+ (Photo by Jen Bragan) – Michael Colavita
