Weekend Warrior, September 16 – 18

We are quite interested to hear what Purples has been up to lately. If you didn’t know already, the band is made up of ex-Teeth members Peter MoDavis, Brian Ashby and Jonas Oesterle. They formed Purples and posted a handful of songs after The Teeth surprisingly disbanded due to Aaron MoDavis’ desire to pursue other non-music related opportunities. But there has been a long silence from Purples after the original tracks surfaced. The three remaining ex-Teeth members also supported Alec Ounsworth live on stage as part of his band Flashy Python. They’ll be joined this evening by three out of the four remaining members of Drink Up Buttercup who are now performing as White Birds, and also have their debut release on cassette coming out on September 23 via Grizzly Records. Also on the bill is Mike Quinn from And The Moneynotes. Johnny Brenda’s, 1201 N. Frankford Ave., 9pm, $10, 21+
