We are sad to hear that Tritone will be closing. We’ve had some fun and strange times in the little red room. Foobooz broke the news earlier today. They also received updates from Tritone’s owner Dave Rogers and Chris Fetfatzes, who owns South Philly’s Hawthorne Café and has entered into an agreement to purchase the place which is pending on the approval of the liquor license transfer. According to the updates, Foobooz reported Fetfatzes (who had originally declined to comment on the article) said that “there are a few different concepts he is working on for the space, none of which involve a focus on live music. But, he adds, that doesn’t mean he will phase out music completely.” They also received comments from Rogers after the piece was posted that “he’s already received a dozen calls and emails from bands wondering if their gigs are canceled. The answer is no. Rogers says he expects to be open for at least 3 more months and that any shows currently on the calendar are staying there.” So there you have it. Sucks. (You can read the rest of the post HERE.) But at least we still have Bob n’ Barbara’s – our (citywide) special home away from the rest of the world. Just sometimes wish they’d put on more shows there. We’d definitely be down with doing a showcase.
