Philly indie rockers Sing, Bird of Prey have released their debut full-length Crystal Embryo digitally earlier this week. Produced by Kyle Pulley at The Headroom Philadelphia with additional engineering by Shane Woods, elements of psychedelia can be found woven throughout the album’s eleven tracks. “Wild Type” initially feels like a piano ballad before ultimately evolving into a full band opus, while “Microsatellite” follows adding rough, buzzy guitars and live-room drumming to the raw emotional vocals. The song structure and vocal processing evokes John Lennon’s later period Beatles work (White Album and beyond). You can catch Sing, Bird of Prey live tonight at The Barbary, along with Minka and Albondigas. The Barbary, 951 Frankford Ave., 7pm, $5-$7, 21+ – Dave Cromwell
