Born out of the ashes of the defunct five-piece Lesser Known Neutrinos, Philadelphia’s Sgnls is slowly but steadily carving their own notch in the local music history tree. With three releases under their belt, the young three-piece, whose currently working on an LP is turning prog-rock from technical tirade to understated art form by infusing elements of ’60s psych-garage and a bit of horror pop (it’s in the vocals, mostly). They’ll show you how it’s done tonight when they play the Level Room with fellow hometowners, Hot Guts, who, as always, will pleasantly assault your ears with their sweaty, frenzied, intense death rock. The bands will be hosting rising dark NYC neo-folk outfit Cult of Youth. The Level Room, 2012 Market St., 8pm, $8, 21+ – Annamarya Scaccia
