West Philly via Michigan recording artist Sam Cook-Parrott, a.k.a. Radiator Hospital, hasn’t really been living in Philly all that long, but he has managed to demonstrate to a growing number of listeners that he is a unique songwriter that shouldn’t be ignored. With poetic diction, upbeat, brain-burrowing melodies, and a distinct vocal styling that bleeds earnestness, I continue to listen in awe as he churns out release after release of songs that simply touch the heart and charm the senses. And the fact that all this is done holding true to his unpretentious DIY/punk ethos, it’s no wonder why we love him so much here at The Deli. Sam recently booked his bus tickets to head out on tour throughout most of next month before making a stop home for a rad show on Sunday, January 26 at the First Unitarian Church with Waxahatchee, All Dogs, Cayetana and Heavy Bangs. So if you really don’t want to wait until next year to see him perform live, then screw the rest of your workweek and make a trip out to the Golden Tea House tonight. It’ll totally be worth it.
